Thumbs up NJ folks...FINALLY got my TL-S TINTED

Well guys after MONTHS of putting it off and getting side tracked ,I finally got the chance to have the TL-S tinted and couldn't be happier with the job these guys over at The Tint Shop in Edison, NJ did. It took them 1.5-2hours to tint and moleskin the whole car ...if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM and I'll get you in touch with the guys.

...here are the pics, I got it tinted on Friday...went with Madico Char-Cool film, 35% on the front and 20% on the back...and yes they did the rear quarter windows perfectly without having to remove anything...check it out

Looks really good. That is the kind of tint combo (35%-front and 20%-rear) that I'm thinking about getting in the future. Now I have some reference pics.

nice. that's where i got mine done. Except...they messed up my quarter panel and they refused to fix it, b/c they said i didn't tell them the day of the tinting.

oh well, i'll eventually get my 35% down to 20% all around.

any reason why most people do that type of tint 35 in front 20 in back? i have mine 20% all around and i think it looks more even. if a cop is going to pull you over i dont think 20 or 35 percent will even matter, i have talked to a lot of cops about tints and most of them dont really care unless they see you weaving through traffic, reasons to search your care, or they are new or a-hole.

I was originally going to do 20% all around but then decided to leave the front at 35% thinking it'd be better for night driving and a nice contrast between the front and back...i guess it's all about preferance...only "+" to 20% up front is not being able to see if anyone's in the car at all if you're pulled up next to it while with the 35 you can just see a shadow of someone if they're moving etc

nice job,
? - I know a lot of people in NJ that had tints. When inspection time came around, they could not pass without removing them. Is there a workaround?

I absoutely hate doing that. My car when I bought it from the previous owner came with about 28% tints on the sides and 20% on the back. Almost everyone says "Well the sides are fine but the back is just too dark." This year around I am having it all redone at 35% the legal limit because not only is the back window illegal but its also starting to peel and it looks blurry out the back.

Anyway though your TL looks awesome with tint and I am sure your going to love it.

Thanks...I'm very happy with them...just opened the window for the first time yesterday and the tint goes very close to the edge which makes it look like it's not even aftermarket/film on there

the ticket varies from city to city..... i had tints on my 99 for 2 years and never got a ticket for em, so i guess it is just based on what cop is going to be a dick for it..

i can answer this one for you...your 21 years old, probably frequent the night club scene, have a few drinks, maybe a puff, maybe a snort, bamn, your dumb ass gets pulled over for the plain simple fact that you have tint on your windows...

now if your in your mid 30's and just like to have your windows tinted, your not hangging around in the night clubs, then i say go for it...i dont get pulled over anymore, but when i was your age, i got pulled over left and right for no damn good reason other than the fact that i was out at hours when everyone and their brothers drinking and driving...

You're right but i am not into drinking, club or act the way 21 year old does. I am worried cause i just bought the car and its my first car so don't want start getting tickets. Its hard to own a car before the age of 25. Stuff like "you're too young to have loaner car". Well i might be getting tinted after all.

Get the tints...it's completely worth the risk of getting tickets, especially when you're not doing anything else illegal. Around my area tint's are very common and no one gets pulled over for them etc...I think tint's are a must on any and all cars

blazinginder, if you can or have a chance to wash your car and take pics so i can tell what the tints look like, that would be awesome

Where can I get moleskin? By the way my window is already tinted can I still get the moleskin installed? Does the dealer do this type of thing? Or is there a place that I can get it install? Do I have to install the moleskin all around the windows? Sorry for asking so many questions. Thanx!

How did u get ur quarter glass to close that gap. My tinter said he will somehow use a special tape to close the gap? By the way what type of material did your tinter used to close that gap in the quarter glass? Also is it hard to install the moleskin?

Find another tint shop! The first 2 places I checked said that it was impossible to get behind there, but a good tinter can and will do it. This is a pic of my car I just got tinted today, and it is one piece.

I watched the guy who tinted my car. He used a razor to cut around a thin piece of the plastic trim inside and slipped the film right in. Took him 5 minutes to do it.
