Whatever Honda is doin....it looks amazing. It's not just a "boring" black. My co-worker's M3 has similar paint (as mentioned above)

It gives it more to the paint, my 89 BMW was white but had red and blue specs in it. My 95 civic had gold metal flakes in the black panit that made it shine more.

I love how it shimmers in the sunlight. I only wish the panels on the doors matched the rest of the car better since they're pure black with no metallic blue embedded.

They are not pure black it is just the way the light hits the metal flake, all of the panels are painted the same color.

That would be peculiar......

My guess either a visual mistake or a painting flaw.

We need the rest of this story.....

When you say "behind" are you referring to a base coat clear coat etc.?

I don't claim to know Acura's painting system/method but I would assume all of their "pearl essence" paints are a 2 / 3 stage. IE regarding your question about the black - base coat is straight black, then a blue pearl coat within the first layer of clear, followed by maybe 2 more coats of clear.

Thats how I always performed my pearl jobs, though with about 4-5 coats of clear for hand sanding/polishing... My name and "orange peel" were never found in the same sentence...

Cheers
