newbie to be question, 2007 or 08?

hi:
i am currently coming out of a 9 year relationship with a s70glt volvo. great car but it's time to move on. my daughter has had two tl's and loves them so i am looking for a volvo replacement. i would rather not buy new so my search so far has been for a 2007 tl. is there any compelling reason to extend my search to the 2008? just curious as to recurring problems with the 07's. my daughter's car has been flawless for the past 6 years.

the 07 and 08 are almost identical, besides the age difference. The only problem was on the 2007 TL-S where the rear shocks clunked, there was a TSB issued for this and the shocks are changed free of charge to to the revised ones that do not make the clunking noise.

There are 3 trims for the 2007 and 2008 year

TL - Base, no navigation
TL - Navigation sytem
TL-S Navigation system, brembo brakes upgrade, Active noise cancellation, larger motor with more power, two tone interior (black and silver)

If you want a comfy car good for long trips, the TL Navigation is good for you. If you are a bit sporty and like luxury, the TL-S is good for you. If you don't care and just want a tl, the non-navi is good enough.

By the way, welcome to the forums frank! Remember use the search function before posting questions...

The paint acura uses is sort of soft. If the front end is in really good condition you may want to put a clear bra on it.

As mentioned, no substantial difference 2007 to 2008.

Recommend a Navi trim for sure. Maybe you're like me: "I don't need Navi. 95% of the time, I know where I'm going already. The other 5%, I'll figure out old school."

Right.

I *love* the Navi. It is much more useful than you might think. Once you've got it, you won't be happy without it.

You might want to consider a couple of therapy sessions.

i have a garmin zumo and will not travel without it. i use it in the family van, my sedan and motorcycle. it took me through downtown Indianapolis last week and was flawless on a 3,000 mile motorcycle trip i took last month.
for the volvo i don't need therapy i need a financial advisor :-) the repair cost after 114,000 miles is incredible!

Go with the Type S-get the 2008 if you can. You'll never regret it. If you get a TL without Navigation, you'll kick yourself for the rest of the life of your car.

I will add that since the 2009 TL will be a different body style (Yet to be revealed)

There should be some really good deals on the '08s. It may make you consider going for a brand new car.

I have a 2007 TL-S and I have not had any of the problems posted on this forum. It is a great car.

Enjoy

Id like to add that my car before my 2007 TypeS was a Volvo 850 Turbo (same as the S70, just older).
Its a great upgrade from the Volvo! I had 2 other volvo's before that one, and the TL made me forget all about how good the Volvos were to me!

Frank get the nav when you go to trade in the TL its value is higher because of the nav case in point I just purchased an 05 TL with nav not the TL-S just the plain TL but with nav and KKB has it at 26,000 to 28,000 Nav is the only option on the TL all the other toys are standed so go for the nav you will be glad you did.

and btw I was not looking for a car when I found this one but it was a 05 with only 16K on the clock and my wifes birthday was comming up so I bought it for her you should have seen the look on her face when the dealer gave her the key's and pointed to the silver car out front the door and told her it was all hers to enjoy
