Newbie Needs Some Advise !!!!!

Hey guys !! I am a Newbie here... I am an Acura guy from day 1. I had a gs-r and a vigor, well I moved to a spec v sentra and I hate it!! Any way I am in the market for a TL. I am working with 15k cash. One of my good friends is in car sales. He has a perfect 2005 TL that was listed for 14,995. Car does not have a scratch on it, only has 2 owners.(AutoCheck Score is a 93!!) I test drove the car for like 45 mins and it runs and drives like it came off show room floor. No road noise no nothing. Lady had to sell car because she did something to her knee and could not drive stick anymore. Well my friend said he can give me the car for 13,300 out the door. That includes tax tags and a 60 day warranty. I did lots of research and it looks like a great deal, this TL has everything Bluetooth and Nav. Should I get a TL with 98k on it or do these things have issues after 100k? My other option is a 06 RL with 100k on it for 15900 before tax and tags.
Look Below for the link for the car

No worries with buying a TL at 98k miles on it =)

Just check the maintenance done on it, etc.

Welcome aboard!

Timing belt at 105k is coming up, but not too expensive if you find a independent shop.

Congrats!

Getting the car is very exciting, but doing mods and waiting for things to come in the mail for your car is another exciting experience too!
It's when you start "bonding" with your car more lol

For the year, nah. For the price, probably.

The car has no scratches on it, so you pay for what you get; a blemish-free car =)

Yea but I did alot of shopping around at dealers and online, most of the ones that I seen were either beat, or did not have any options on them. I want one loaded, I would rather have the extra miles and know that the car was takin really good care of than paying around the same or more for one that has like 15k less miles and no tech package and possibly could have been neglected. In my area I could not find a 05 fully loaded for the price I paid. and sorry my spelling sucks lol

Yea I am not doing much too it just a set of nice rims, new exhaust,CAI and Springs.
I spent over 7 grand on aftermarket parts for my spec v sentra and I am trying to sell that thing now. I will loose out on alot of money but I am tired of driving around in a kids car

Back in November i bought my 04 5AT with 108k miles for 11k. It ran very well and still does. I knew it had some items that needed attention. One was the complete timing belt service. The local dealers around me in atlanta quoted anywhere from $800-$1200. On here i found a post that said a dealer in SC was quoting $580 for the exact same service. I didnt want to drive all the way up there so i called the same atlanta dealers back and found one that matched the price for me. I saved a lot.
The only other things that needed service was the spark plugs, and brakes. I did both of those myself. With help from this forum.

My car did have the 100k warranty with it so i know it was taken care of previously. Which helped me pull the trigger. Just be prepared to have to replace a few things as with buying any used car. But if you have 15k and its only 13,300 or whatever you said, save your leftover money for service.

Or maybe mods later.

Onyx, best of luck in getting this TL. Like the guys said, you will need to do the timing belt at 105,000 miles. Just understand that it's a Honda, which will run and run and run..........

Let us know how things turn out.

Thumbs up

Don't worry about the mileage, 100k is nothing, but you will need to change the following to gain confidence that the engine will last: 1.- timing belt and make sure you replace everything that is in that "locations" e.g. water pump... If you have a good mechanic it shouldn't charge you extra for the labour replacing the water pump just for the part itself; 2.- change the spark plugs with Oem NGK; 3. all filters and 4. if you feel confident, take apart the throttle body assembly and clean it from all the carbon residues replace the throttle body gasket and you are good to go .. use it and abuse it ) it is an excellent engine and car. I'm at my second Acura and happy ever since. Best of luck .

Just make sure the timing belt, water pump service was done. You should be good after that.
