Newbee

Well, just bought the wife a new Redondo Red Pearl TL 5AT, we bought it on a Friday and the following Thursday drove it 2100 miles in five days with my three year old saying " I can not see out" and " I want mommy's old car back." He was used to a SUV and could see out the side windows. He is just going to have to get used to it!!! Anyway it got 28mpg in mixed driving, went to New York City. I Love it!!! I was planning on a Lincoln LS and switched to the TL at the last minute. Made a pretty good choice if I do say so. Now all I have to do is ditch the crappy tires!!! How does Acura justify a tire like that for a $30k car???

Well, thats it for my first thread on here!!!!

Take care and Have FUN!!!!

Congrats on your purchase! Great choice!

The EL42 is an average OEM tire. This board makes them appear more evil than they really are.

Congrats, and you bought a very nice but not so common color too!

Perhaps we should have a "Team anything but WDP, SSM, AM, and NBP"!!

(just kidding!)

Oh, and in 1,000 miles I don't have any complaints about the tires. No flatspotting or vibration and dry grip is more than adequate. I only driven once in rain and that seemed OK. The car probably won't see snow for the first five years or so.

Regards,

LS vs. TL

Great Choice!!! Congratulations!!!

The TL is leaps and bounds ahead of ANY Ford product, including the LS. The only cool thing about the LS is the THX sound system, but hey, now you have ELS DVD-Audio!!!!

Have fun with your new car and enjoy it!

I have a 3 year old grandson, that I carry in my TL a good bit. To protect the seats. I put a large thick, folded towel under the car seat. It also raises the car seat about 2 inches. My grandson can see fine with this set up. I know seats are different, but it might help.
Welcome to the club, Enjoy.

Welcome

Congrats on the new car, and though not popular, I like the Redondo Red.

At that rate, you'll need new ones by the end of the month anyway. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is my recommendation.

Thanks for all the replies!!
I had a towel under and behind the car seat to protect the leather, now I have three under it, He is happier but still can not see as good. He will get over it, sold the wifes old car on Friday so he has no choice now.

The car I bought was "used" it had 8700 miles onit when I got it and the second day I had it I asked Acura if there were any problems with the tires, I felt a vibration for the first couple of miles no big deal. They are at about 50% tread life now, 11,500 miles so it wont be long to replace them. I will definitley research a better tire than the EL42. I have run Michelans on a lot of my cars and have always loved them. But with almost 3k miles since I bought it 2 weeks ago and another 800miles coming this weekend those new tires will be needed before I make my third car payment. OUCH!!!

We waited for the Redondo Red that was THE color we wanted. I am not sure how popular each of the colors are but that was what we wanted. We love the combination, actually hads looked at a Redondo red with camel interior and I just did not like that color interior. Personnal preference like the exterior color I guess, but we fell loved the exterior color and told the dealer what we were looking for. He called us a couple of days later with a Abyss blue with grey interior, we liked it but it just was not what we wanted. We went a checked out another car at another dealership and came back to Acura an hour later and there sat a Redondo Red with parchment int. We bought it.

I recieved a recall notification from MSN about the tranny, whats up with that?? I am going to Acura tomorrow for a service so will find out if my TL is included in the recall. Looks like a quick fix if you are under 15k mles but I am close to the 15k limit and would prefer an inspection (which is required after 15k) I will let you all know what I find out.
