Do you think that is due to the IS being RWD? So far there is no indication that the new IS will have AWD as an option.

That being said, the TL is excellent. During one of Wichita's fowl weather moments, I was driving my TL at 35 mph around a packed snow/ ice curved road and it handled like a dream.

On another occasion some kid in his Prelude didn't stop at an intersection and pulled out in front of me. I don't think he saw me coming. That kid would have been broad sided. However I slammed on the brakes and steered around behind him. I'm not sure how RWD w/ an electronic aid would have faired, but the TL was flawless.

All I know is that my next car has to be RWD.

There is a huge difference btw RWD and FWD. FWD should be Wrong Wheel Drive.

Front wheel drive is for the "ham footed" driver since it is more stable.... and believe me, most people cannot drive and should stay with FWD.

For that much coin I would be at the Caddy dealership (yes I said Caddy) picking up my CTS-V!! Same price you listed for a 400hp V8!! Having driven one, I can truly attest to the fact that it is a Corvette with 4 doors (albeit with a lacking interior).

The new GS is awesome...we have a 02 RX300 Coach Edition Lexus and it much tighter and quieter than my 04 TL. The Coach seats do have butt prints though!

FWD is great for packaging reasons and for handling. Now with that said, RWD is better but how many people are going to drive their car and exploit the benefits?

AWD IMO is better as Audi proved for years in touring car races BEFORE RWD BMW complained and Audi was forced to withdraw A4's with Quattro.

I read somewhere where Lexus is a Japanese Benz, Infiniti is the equilivant to BMW, and Acura is chasing Audi. In time all Acura's will have SH-AWD. Acura is experimenting with using lighter weight material in a higher producation car. They have experience with the NSX.

The RL would be more impressive it it had 40 more hp. The TL will need to use more light weight material and a pwr boost before adding SH-AWD. Now a RWD TL would be great as the car is already a good driving machine that is hampered by FWD. But they may depend on whether or not a model above the RL is produced and if Honda feels the need to invest money in a RWD platform. IMO, Acura will follow Audi in having AWD in its top offering. As a side note, I find it somewhat interesting that even Audi wanted to go RWD but that is reserved for VW.

My friend just traded his TL in for a new GS and I have to say that the quality, comfort, and luxury amenties of the new GS exceed the TL. Being a Lexus though it must be pretty boring to drive... The GS is out of the TL's class though and should be compared with the new RL.

Yes it does compete with the RL not TL. The ES did compete with the last TL but the new TL is more sporty so it runs rings around the ES. Plus the two are aimed at different buyers.

The GS I drove was way nicer then my TL in every way. Acura does need to focus on quality. That being said, the quality of the RL is better as some will point out that its built in Japan.

The GS is a beautiful car, but the price is otta my league. I wanna by this time around not lease. The inside of the TL is beautiful, way better than my IS300. When it starts to snow, and I'm driving my IS i do the sign off the cross, even with snow tires it really bad. Lexus is trying to put me in a ES300, but seems like an old-man car to me!

The GS only comes with an automatic transmission. I stopped looking at it once I knew that. I NEED a stick...

Maybe I forgot what my TL was like before A-Spec suspension, or maybe you don't drive spiritedly, but if you think the GS handles better than the TL I think you should seek help....and soon.

When the ES first came out that was not the case. The ES was more like the first and second gen TL's. Lux with some sportiness to it.

But when your IS came around, it allowed Lexus to make the ES more of a mini LS. This is why I do not see the IS replacing the ES as some on this board have predicted.

There is no way in HELL the IS will replace the ES. I don't have the exact figures, but I'll bet that the ES outsells the IS by at LEAST 2 to 1. Lexus' bread and butter is quality and luxury, NOT sportiness.

Um the Lexus is 60 GRAND with options.......no way in hell I would pay 60 GRAND for a Toyota!!!!

Agreed.... i'd rather get the M5 or M3 at that rate. Lexus may be luxurious, but I'd rather be luxury sport. Acura is the money saving way to go

just sat in one today. the engine sound is incredible. smoothly refined. it's worth the money....lexus service still greatly outshines acura. that's one thing that annoys me about acura. (and yes, i'm a TL owner)

I have to admit , my 1st //Mpression of the new GS was very skeptical ! I also thought and do agree that from the rear window on . . . this car looks like a Maxima ( i think that is very fugly ) . But in person and also in black it seems to hide it and make me slightly change my mind about the rear redesign . But from the front I think she is a sexy beast ! Not as athletic looking as our TLs but still attractive enough to make the person driving infront of it keep glancing in their rear views to sneak a peak. Kinda like that girl / guy yuo always thought was cute but just didnt have exactly what you were looking for ( IMO ) ! The DVD-A is hot and sounds wonderful but like someone said earlier , this interior is boring and down right bland if you ask me ! I loved the fact that the cabin is just quiet and that it absorbs bumps and you hardly notice it . . . . . The seats feel great ( wish the TLs seats felt that comfortable ) but other than that it doesnt seem to spark any emotion interior wise . When accelerating it was hard to tell if I was actually going faster than if I were in my TL because its so smooth ( could be a good or bad thing ) . But one thing I noticed , you really have to get on the pedal to get the acceleration . After getting back into my car I realized that my TLs acceleration felt effortless compared to having to smash the pedal down on the GS. . . . But overall I think its a very nice car . Cant compete with the TL $ for $ but still a good choice of vehicle ! Now would I buy one probably not , but I would let my signifcant other get one and occasionaly borrow it

That's not what I ment. I should have been more clear. The GS has a softer ride compaired to the TL. With my car I feel just about everything which is fine. The GS filtered out most road imperfections I would have noticed were I in my own car.

The TL is way more fun to drive then the GS for a variety of reasons.
