New York AZers quick question

I cleared out a friend's headlamps while i was out here in NY and just realized...she needed to get her inspections done for a registration renewal;

i need a place that will pass the headlight with no amber...she has switchbacks just no amber covering it.

or better yet, where can i get some cheap amber vinyl cut outs to stick over the lamp lol

if she has switchbacks, then whats the problem? amber turning signal is what is required not a amber lens. Atleast thats what i got out of what everyone has said.

that is true, but if the bulb lights up white it will fail the safety inspection.

Huh? You'll pass inspection just fine at ANY location. No amber is nothing to worry about. Everything will be fine.

white would be the parking lights and amber would be the turning signal making it legal. i agree with tekno that it'll pass anywhere. where she located in ny?

if the turn signal bulb lights up white, and there is no amber. you can fail the safety inspection. but most places dont really do the full visual inspection, but if you go to the dealer there is a greater possibility of failing.

so just leave your car without the lights on and just put your hazzards on. It should flash just amber. Won't it work like that??

sweet thanks, she's out in Roslyn Heights;

i was under the assumption that you always needed a piece of amber color on your headlight?

well if that's not the case, the switchbacks are working properly albeit we didnt resistor them but that just means the blink rate is fast;

thanks for the info guys

A girl in roslyn heights, with cleared headlights? how have i not seen that

anyways, she wont have a problem with inspection at all...

the amber on the lights is a DOT/US regulated standard for vehicles.... but its not part of the inspection... as long as the bulbs arent BLUE... and they work

+1 For real!

I used to go to K's Auto with my old car. Willis Ave and 2nd Street in Mineola. Never failed an inspection there with no amber reflector and white parking lights\blinkers.

Guys, I apologize PROFUSELY for thread-jacking, but this is about as close to a 'regional' forum or facsimile I have seen on this forum to date

Are there any NY AZers that would be available to assist with a non-nav to nav swap?

^^^ I've been meaningto bring this up, and sorry for jacking your thread jacking, but I feel like we could really use some regional forums here. Alot of the forums I go on for my other hobbies have regional forums and it's really helpful.

Sorry... I can't help you with the swap

NP, man. I agree...this site is a bit above the curve in terms of a car forum, but could really round things out with a regional section.

i think this has been brought up before, and what happens is things become segmented on the site....as you can tell, for the most part, when you post in teh 3G general forums ppl usually answer accordingly;

navi swap is ridiculously messy and you need to be organized....sorry i wouldn't be able to help

but i would also suggest waiting until the weather is warmer

i highly doubt that. it cant be passed with CEL's. no brakes? i know your exaggerating, sure thats possible, its only visual inspection, same as the horn and the front plate
