New Type-S joining the family

Hey fellas glad to move over to the TL forums and join a new family. So got myself a new 2008 TL Type-S this past weekend for $18K with 82k miles. Used to drive '97 CL 3.0 Black with red led swap in the interior and K&N filter. Here it is before I get windows tinted and Full A-spec lip kit like to keep it stock in the engine for now I find TL's have sweet bodies and not much tampering in engine till you really need it. Done with the talking here are the pics.

Oh forgot to mention this. . . . . look what my dad has too. It's also an '08 TL Type-S 35% tint all way around, I'm gonna go darker.

Go 20% all around, except the windshield of course. Best overall look in my opinion. Nice pick up.

Congrats OP!!!

I am currently looking to upgrade and go for a Type-S which I plan to keep for a few years to see what the new Gen MDX looks like. As that will be my last car I wish to own.

Question looking for a commuter car for my mom gas reasons, I was looking into the 1G CLs. How did your 97 treat you? Any problems I should be concerned with, electrical, mechanical?

Not sure does it use premium fuel or regular unleaded?

I would look out for tranny issues that's all ive had maybe replacing timing belt nothing came up just make sure you check out car's history. and use regular gas premium helps car run better but is expensive in places

Ugh, I didnt know the tranny issues plagued the 1G CL's too. My mom saw a light blue one and she loved it, she wants a small coupe thats good on gas etc since her gas guzzler GMC Envoy XL is not helping her with gas prices increasing.

Oh I know gas is expensive its like $4.70s premium in San Diego area in Cali. I'll just tell her to look into an Integra as I dont want to worry about tranny issues. Sorry mom no CL for you.

Only bummer thing is some integras are modded or priced too high for the amount of miles and condition they are in.

At least with a few CLs I found were low 100k miles but I guess I dont want my mom to gamble paying for tranny issues on such an old car that she just need to commute in.

I'll steer her towards and S2000 lol
She loves driving MT !!!

Update:
Currently have Xlr8 quad exhaust with resonator in production as of 5-13-13
Also waiting on ATLP J-pipe also is on back order 4-6 weeks as of 5-8-13
Exhaust is 1.5 weeks from obtaining shipping information.
Really hoping I had these two upgrades done before the National Meet-Up in KC, MO, we'll see how it all works out.

Evan, can't wait to hear the exhaust.

Also might want to have this moved over to the photo section if you want to do a progress thread. That is where most of them are anyway

Wow, from the angles posted your dads car doesnt look nearly the same as my NBP Type S with 35 percent. Do you know what brand tint he has?

I like mine at 35% but it does look like 25%

Loving the white S!! Awesome that you and your dad has the same type of car!

I should've persuaded the wife to get a Type S for her daily.

Just got here back from the tint shop looks sexy, pics up in 10min. Dad had legal limit here in ks Wichita is 35%. My car has Johnson brand specifically Marathon tint guy said it has charcoal look and was darker shade even though its still 35% with 20% glare strip.

Can someone move this thread to Photo gallery starting progression thread?
