New TL Owner

As of this morning I am a TL owner. Traded in my 2003 G35 Coupe for a Satin Silver TL (ebony interior) w/out Navi. I went back and forth on the whether to get Navi, and decided that the 6 times I used it on the G35 over the past 2 years wasn't enough to spend the 2 grand on the Navi for the TL.

I've got roughly 60 miles on the car, and I love it. Even without Navi there are so many little details to the interior that you cannot get on another car for the same price. I bought my G35 in October of 2002 for MSRP (roughly $37,000). I bought the TL this morning for $30,700. While I love driving the G35, I think I got that much more overall in the TL for about $6000 less.

And now I wonder what I ever did without XM radio and boothtooth

Welcome to the forum and congratulation on your acquisition of your TL.

Disregard the people who scoff at you for not getting the navi. If you don't need it you don't need it, although they will tell you it is worth the $2000 additional to impress your passengers. Not to me, it isn't.

Don't get me wrong I like Navigation in a car, but this car is great with or without it.

And my previous post should obviously say Bluetooth, not boothtooth.

Congrats

As you've already discovered, you made the right choice! I was considering the G35, but was more impressed with the TL (interior quality, interior room, body style, ride, etc). For the money, the TL is an amazing value (IMHO).

I've had my non-navi TL since Feb (have 6K miles) and still love to drive it. Don't regret the decision not to buy Navi (can't imagine when it would be useful).

Still don't have a HFL phone, but Verizon now has a HFL model so I hope to be using it soon!

Enjoy the TL.

I am the owner of a new Nighthawk Black TL w/Navi as of a week ago today.

I love the Navi but then I used to get lost all the time, even going places I have already
been, and don't get me started on that damn Mapquest. If you don't need it don't sweat it.

Besides the best part of TL's interior is the Stereo - I still can't get over it!

Welcome to the TL world! You'll love it (as you probably already know).

I would never scoff at anyone for not getting Navi, but I'll just say that I've been pleased with mine - only because I use the voice commands ALL THE TIME. Don't use the Navi much, but it was worth it for the voice.

Hey Uptown,

welcome, nice color combo! I love my TL, and while my Navi is fun, I almost went without it. But, who cares? Enjoy your car, it's a blast.

Welcome to the club!

I could say "you should've got the navi" but I won't.

Enjoy your car!! Can you also post a comparison of ride and handling between your G sedan and the TL? Just curious from the "car nut" standpoint as to your opinion since you switched.

Neuron - I drove the G35 coupe, as opposed to the sedan. The ride is night and day. The G35 coupe rides pretty hard. It reminds me of my Dad's old 85 Corvette (well, maybe it wasn't that hard). As for the sedan, I drove it quite a few times as a loaner. The ride is good, but the seats are not as comfortable as the TLs. As an ex-G35 owner and now new TL owner I can say that the TL is a better car. The G35 coupe and sedan are both quicker and handle well since they are rear wheel drive, but the overall ride is better in the TL. And the interior....forget about it. THe G35 interior has nothing on the TLs.

Ooops....I misread that part of your original post. My error. Thanks for your impression. I'm actually a big fan of the G coupe but require four doors for my daily driving needs.

I originally was looking for an Anthracite/Qaurtz/6MT/No-Nav and wound up with Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Nav. Go figure. You will get along just fine without the Nav. It does have its uses and offers more than just directional help (which I have actually used, much to my surprise). It is linked to your HVAC and depending upon which direction your car is headed, will adjust the cooling according to where the sun is in relation to the car.

But let's face it. We didn't have or need any of this in years past. It just makes things a little more interesting for us.
