Angry New Tint , got cold now it's milky !

Got Huper optik 40% tint last Saturday, every thing looked awesome, then it got cold and the back window got milkey looking , then this morning I live in Rhode Island all the side windows got milkey. I called the place and they said it would go away, should I believe them ? I am really pissed , I would of waited till the spring to have them tinted if they had told me in advance this would happen

zexi,

Please follow up on your post re. milky tint after a couple of days. I'm in NJ and was thinking about having them done soon. If it looks like the cold will pose an issue i'll just wait until spring (or a time when it's not 20 degrees out !!)

Thanks

I am sure that this is from the moisture that is still in the tint. It can take a couple of weeks for it to dry out 100%. I've never seen it milky before, but "it can happen".

I just had mine done last week and there was some moisture between the window and tint. They said the UV rays of the sun will cure the tint faster and the tint will bond with the glass more quickly. I left it out in the sun for a day and it worked.

The milky look is a common side effect with window tinting. Automophile was correct when he said it was moisture. The best thing you can do is let it sit in the sun and not in a garage. I just got mine done and I live in southern Ca. and I got the milky windows also. It’s been four days and it’s almost all gone. Don’t worry it will go away.

It takes heat to cure the tint and dry the moisture from between the film and the glass, but Huper blocks so much heat, it will take a little longer not to mention it's winter time which makes it harder for the glass to get hot even in the sun. Just give it time, it will look great again soon. I was told maybe 3 weeks on mine, but it only took 4 days. Had it done mid October on my windshield.

i agree with jbx

Over the years I have tinted many car. I went with Huper Optik on my new LOVESHIP and it took about 3-4 weeks for all of the moisture imperfections to dry up. And I live in Texas here it's still warm. That about 3 times longer than any metallic or dye film. I would leave your car out in the sun as much as possible. Once completely dry, you'll love the clarity of Huper Optik.
