You should really do a search

https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/update-switchblade-keys-360939/

...and are you asking us how much locksmiths charge in your area to cut keys?

you should really read the post better...

i informed that i bought one on ebay (means i already have it and dont need to do a search as to where to find one)

I was asking what it would cost (didnt explain in laymans terms - sorry) on AVERAGE, to get a switchblade key cut.

thats all.

thanks tho

If I were in your shoes I would just go to the dealer and pay the extra $30 or so the dealer might charge you over a locksmith. It seems anywhere from $55 to $125.

Did you buy a milled key of eBay or just a 07 blank laser key?

Might be adding to the confusion.........

This is what the post said:

brand new acura 2007 key fob memory 1 !

A GREAT BARGAIN FOR A LUCKY EBAYER!

You are bidding a Genuine Acura Factory Keyless Transmitter / Switch Blade Key from the 2007 TL - Memory 1. While the keyless will program to most late model Acura's (all 2004 - 2006 TL for sure), the key blank is the new style and is not compatible with the standard locks and ignitions (the outside blank cut). You will have to mod the blank and the immobilizer yourself. This is not an aftermarket reproduction.

You have an 05? Does the one you bought look just like that picture? If it does.........

The one you bought is not compatible unless you have the key blank moded........neither a locksmith or a dealer will mod this for you (as far as I know)........

Is that what you intended to buy?

if my understanding is accurate- first you have to get it machined to fit the 04-06 TL's, then get it cut and programmed. i'd say you are looking at the very least- $100

I keep trying to help but they get angry at me and think they know better, so I dont bother so much anymore, pretty much point them in the right direction and if they're too lazy to research it, then tough shit. I'll let him waste time trying to cut his 07 key for his 05 TL

i understand... however, i was just asking how much, on average, it would cost to have this taken care of... whether it was milled, machined, or otherwise.

I do appreacitate the input and the help, but it seemed as though he was implying i was wasting thread space, etc - at least thats how i took it

im sorry for attitude, but theres enough crap on this board where people who are 1000+ posts and here for 2 years always have some sort of smart alec input (we ALL know what im talking about), and based on my assumption thats what it sounded like... im sorry if thats not how you meant it, so i apologize, but i was just looking for a simple answer... a price range to have the given key taken care of, and when im given a "you should really read this... blah blah blah".... that really doesn't help - just needed simple input.

I understand what you mean and prices for a cut and program vary widely. Some have had luck in getting it done cheap while others have paid as much as $100.00 or more.

I think your issue is going to be getting that key milled........you could have bought one already milled so that all you had to do next was have it cut and programmed.

I do know what you are saying buddy...but you got to understand....what you are asking is asking somebody to REWRITE a book. The thread he pointed you to was were the answer was to all your questions. Because basically...what you bought is semi worthless for your car unless you get it milled. Nobody can do that for you except that guy in that thread he pointed you to....or another seller on ebay sells PREMILLED ones that already have the grooves cut into it....just like the fellow in the thread he pointed you to. The answer....now that you have an unmilled key for the 07 model....its gonna cost you the cost of having it milled ($60 if I remember) plus the cost of getting it cut to match your specific vehicle key and immobilizer chip programmed to your car (cost varies $35 - $125). Now....dont these answers bring about a host of about 15 other questions? Thats why he pointed you to that thread....it will answer ALL of em....AND....would have prevented you from buying an unmodifed/unmilled key from the start - thus saving you time and effort and likely...money in the long run!

yeah, i understand... i apologize, i jumped the gun, i just thought i was getting another run around like usual. Unfortunately I bought the key prior to posting the thread, so im stuck with it... but like i said, its only 30 bucks so its not THAT big of a deal.

again, sorry leedog, i thought you were bashing me because i posted this thread... i appreciate all your help.

This is basically what you want it to look like before you take it to get it cut to your car...

You will notice it has been milled to the correct thickness and proper grooves added to make it work in the 04-06 TL locks. Get your key from FLBusa here on AZ.....its $95 and you will be ready to go to the locksmith. You wont even need to source a key. That or send him your key to be milled for the cheaper price.

FLBusa does NOT accept keys anymore. He will only sell you a milled key.

Just resell the other one back on ebay or to somebody that has an 07 that can use it. Somebody will need it inevitably....so all is not lost.

Switchblade Key

Hey guys,
I purchased a milled 2007 switchblade key and plan on making the conversion to from my 2004 key and remote to handy swblade key. I have 2 questions:

1. Is there a memory 2 conversion for the swblade key for my second pair of keys?
I was told that that memory 2 are not available and if you want 2 swtblade keys I would have to purchase (2) memory 1 keys and use them both as memory 1. Is that true or can i have seperate functioning 2007 memo 1 and memo 2 swtblade keys?

2. Is there anywhere in NYC Area that the cut and reprogramming the 2007 swtblade key? I only found a place in CT @ Avon Acura near Hartford?

Thanks,
Nick D.

1. There should be a Milled Memory 2 switchblade key available. Probably more expensive. Contact flbusa from the link I posted on the first page.

2. Any locksmith should be able to cut it for you, any acura dealer or locksmith with an acura key programmer can reprogram all your keys for you. Just call and ask if they can program keys for 2004 Acura TL's.
