New Ride! 2006 5AT

So I picked up a 2006 TL 5AT a couple weeks back. It has 50,000 miles on it. I was wondering if I should do a ATF change or should I just wait for the 60K mile service. I feel a little bit of a lag when going from reverse to drive. Maybe this is normal but I'm coming from a 6speed manual car.

Thoughts?

Check it...then probably change it IMO. I would bet that it hasn't been done or maybe once. I changed mine around 55k or so and it was very dark, probably meaning that the original owner didn't do it. As for the lag, it's pretty normal. Auto trans has a short lag between reverse & drive, ECU has to catch up with your gear switch. Did you get any warranty on it?

I always do maintenance whenever I get a new car. Who knows what the last owner did?

I agree with Steven. Change it. I just got my 05 TL like 2 weeks ago and the previous owner had already done the flush... which is the only reason I didn't think about doing it. Congrats on the TL and hope you enjoy it as much as everyone else here. Welcome!

Congrats Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.

Check it for sure. As long as the level is fine I would wait. But that's just my opinion. Acura recommends doing the change at 60k, I think, so you should be fine. But changing it wouldn't hurt either. Most people here think a fluid without friction modifiers is best for our cars. Do some searching and you'll find all the information you need!
