Just found the site the other night. have been reading thru some stuff.

Saterday the 17th, I bought a 04 TL 6S in silver. car has 30K miles on it. paid 23.5 OTD with trade of a 116K mile 1998 civic LX.

http://www.jeffnortham.com/cars/
for more pictures.

just today I hardwired my passport 8500. this weekend I'm going to sand and buff out the slight scratches I have (very very few) and then maybe give it a nice wax job if I have time.

One thing I'd love to find is a short intake. I'm not looking for a cold air intake. I know the K&N can be made into a short stack however I can't see spending $250.00 for a friggin piece of metal with filter. Does anyone know where I can find something like the Jim Wolf Tech popcharger (for G35/350Z) I paid $100.00 for my 350Zs intake and I love it. I just wish I could find something like that for the TL.

It's just a cone filter and heat shield. one of the better intakes WHP gain wise for the 350Z even better then the cold air intakes on the market.

anywho, anyone know of where I could find something like that? my guess is I'm going to have to buy a cheap intake from pepboys and cut it to size then mount a K&N cone filter on the end.

After the intake Im working on finding a way to change my XM over to Sirius. There's more and more stuff out on the market for doing so, however I'm not sure if the TL has any support for it yet. My audio friend is looking into it. He said in the last month or two hes seen a few things come out on the market. but once again nothing I know of for the TL.

Rolling out red carpet................o

Jeffie7:

Welcome to Acurazine.com and the 3G TL forum. In our lingo (and Acura's), you have a 6MT.

Congratulations on your "new" TL. You got a very good price also. They are selling for closer to $29-30k in Florida in excellent condition.

Check the Parts and Performance forum for info on engine mods. In fact, check the index for all the forums available here. With so many members, we try to break things up and catalog them to make them easier to find.

I hope you enjoy your TL as much as we do.

Yeah I didnt find anything for the intake like I was looking for =( ohwell Ill just have to make something work =). I looked around for a good 6 months or so for a newer car. I tell people my TL is my beater =) its one hell of a beater! so far I love it - the horn thats super easy to push, (I like to leave my hand on the middle of the wheel when driving) oh and the MPG Im use to the beater civic 40+ highway miles. even my 350Z seems to get better MPG then the TL.

either way, its a great car and out of all the cars I looked at, BMW, Lex, Infiniti, Jag... the TL seemed to be the best one for the money.

p.s I'm happy with what I paid. I talked them down a good bit.

I am not sure what intakes are available yet for the TL but find one that is sealed and does not allow engine heat in. For example like the Stillen Intake for the G35/350z. The JWT still allows a ton of heat and doesn't help with gaining power. With no shield you will loose power.

I use to own a G35 with lots of mods myself. And so far this is the first tank on my TL and my G did get better gas mileage.

The popcharger that sits in the engine bay with the heat shield has showed the best PROVEN dynos. even better then the Nismo, AEM, Ijin, and K&N

I've seen dyno after dyno showing that.

One would think the heat would play a big role but I guess it's not in the popchargers case.

Go with the AEM at least its draws air from outside the engine bay. If you draw from withing hte engine bay your just wasting effort/money.

Congrats and welcome! I fashioned my own short ram (WAI?) intake out of some parts I had from a Frankencar/Apexi intake I had for my previous 2003 Altima SE. Frankly, after some timed runs, I saw no marked difference other than sound. The stock intake on the TL is actually not bad and does a reeasonable job.

If you are still of a mind to replace the intake, check out Berk Technologies and look at what they have for the Altima. With their adaptor, it fits our TLs.

It was the polished but I didn't like that much bling so I wet sanded it and buffed it out to get more of a matte finish.

Good deal, will look into it. I just wish it was as simple as it was for the Z

Popcharger is by far the cheapest intake for the Z yet dyno after dyno has shown it out doing the full cold air intakes.

it was a no brainer.

BTW any idea if the 350Z/G wheels will fit the TL? I'm always running across used Volks on the boards. I wouldnt mind picking up a cheap used set for the TL if the bolt pattern are the same.

The Frankencar/Apexi intake for the 2002 Altima SE was making between 12 and 14 whp.. better than Injen or AEM CAI units. The difference was in Frankencar's midpipe and the Apexi filter. And with the Altima SE, the filter location for the Frankencar unit (WAI) was actually pulling it relatively cool air. I had a friend who tried 4 different intakes and found the Frankencar/Apexi to be the best of the best of the lot.

But the reason after-market intakes worked so well with the Altima was because the factory intake was crap.. as in very restrictive. There were 4 resonators! Plus several really strange turns and path shape changes. And the intake opening on the fresh air side was only 6 square inches to feed a 214 cubic inch engine.
