New Member, New Acura
Hey guys,
New member (although I've been lurking - and learning from everyone's collective wisdom - for a while) and just purchased an '06 TL w/navi, 5AT, NBP over Ebony (47k miles w/100k full wrap warranty) from Rick Case Acura here in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Traded in an '01 Mustang GT (107k miles), silver over charcoal leather, with an SLP Loudmouth catback, MAC intake, hood/bumper/+1 wheels, Alpine iDA-X100 iPod headunit and some billet interior pieces.
Also used to ride an '03 Kawasaki Ninja 250R in college...must have been where I finally learned to appreciate Japanese engineering.![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Looking forward to talking with y'all.

Welcome! I know where that dealership is, I was born and raised in Orlando.
Is your username representing the UF Gators and the FSU Seminoles? Two of my uncles went to UF and both of my parents went to FSU

CL, you're right on. UF for undergrad, FSU for grad school. I recently learned there's more to Orlando than Disney; there's a neat little downtown area on the east side. Have you been back lately?
A 500 bhp TL? Damn...he must have to grip the wheel like a mother with all the torque steer that'd churn out, no?
Pics coming soon!

I'll be back next Thursday for Fall Break! I'm going back with my parents to visit family we haven't seen in a while. I'll be bouncing around between Orlando, Titusville, Tampa, Miramar, and Everglades City for not quite a week. ALL of my family lives in FL which makes it hard for us since we are in NC

My favorite thing about my TL is probably my Gunmetal A-Spec Wheels. I just got them a few months ago and I'm in love with them. I really don't think I could give them up. I also love the growl the engine makes when I get it over 3000 rpm. Also it's a sexy ass car no matter if it's stock or decked out

Do you have any plans for yours? Tinting the windows will help dramatically with the heat and it also looks cool

How is there not a Sonny's in NC, man? That seems like it ought to be a crime! I'm sure you must get good BBQ there still, no?
I had gunmetal wheels on the Mustang when I traded it and they looked awesome on a very metallic silver car. Gunmetal FTW! Are the gunmetal A-specs OEM or powdercoated?
For now, I'm just enjoying the HUGE step up in build quality and attention to detail before I start to catch the mod bug again. Its crazy how nice Honda's managed to make simple switchgear and dash materials feel! When I do make changes, I'm planning on going with the quick and dirty: iPod adapter, trunk lip (recommendations on which one? What's up with the M5 lip?), other stuff from the cheap mods threads.

Dude it's depressing! There is one in Charlotte, NC, which is 3 hours west of me. We drove there a few weeks back and got lunch haha. As crazy as it sounds, it was my dad's birthday and he had a craving.
We also got a shit ton to-go as well![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The Gunmetal A-Spec's are OEM mostly made in 2004, but you can find others made in other years. In 2004 they made them 18 x 8.5 and the years after they were made 18 x 8. I was lucky enough to get my set of 18 x 8.5 for $500 off of Craigslist! That site is the shit. The A-Spec's also come in "Sparkle Silver" and "Chrome-look" I believe. I'm trying to go for the white/dark colors theme, hence my dark wheels, tail lights, side markers, etc. More dark pieces to come eventually but I'm very happy with what I have.
There are two OEM spoilers for the TL. One is the "Lip Spoiler" which is essentially a "lip". It's not big whatsoever and it looks the cleanest in my opinion. It's the closest OEM spoiler to a M5 style spoiler. There is also the "Wing Spoiler" which is pretty much a normal spoiler like you would see on other Honda's around town. I'm not a fan but many members like it.
For cheap stuff you could tint your windows like I said before, get a Cold Air Intake, replace all interior lights with LEDs, etc etc. It adds up very quick. One thing you could consider doing is "de-badging" the emblems on the back. You take the ACURA and the TL off of the back, leaving the Acura emblem. I did that the week after I got my car. It gives the car a very clean and uncluttered look. It took me about three hours (time varies; I'm just a perfectionist) and it's free![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
You should upload some pictures to Photobucket and post em up so we can drool over the new ride!

CL, thanks for the lip advice...I'm still looking around and deciding which to go with. May go with a CAI very soon.
Still need to take pics before the tire shine wears off...but 9/30 was the end of the fundraising quarter and its a crazy busy time! I'll post some up this weekend. What service does everyone use to post photos?

I use Photobucket and I've never had any problems.
As for the CAI you are considering, a lot of people on this forum swear by the AEM V2. I personally have a K&N 69 Series intake and haven't had any problems. I had a Injen CAI on my 01 CL-S and I loved that as well.
