New member...Need advice

Hello all, I am brand new to this forum and need some advice from you all. I am looking at getting into a new TL but need some help or suggestions as I have never owned an Acura before, I mostly was into German cars.

The thing I like most is the navigation system so that is a must. Any other recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any help.

-Brian.

You have following options;

0. Navi / Non Nav as you know and have decided
1. A-Spec if you are performance freak. However, this can go upto $6000+ installed
2. Body kit with new lip, side skirts and rear fender. $800+
3. HPT - High Performance Tires $200 which would be nice to have in LA.
4. AT or 6MT as per your driving conditions. I've 6MT since I love the feel and think it's more fun.

All other things are standard. I went for 6MT and Nav.

In CA, High Performance Tires (HPT) seem fitted and good.

You guys don't think aftermarket tires would be a better way to go?

Yes, if you prefer having the new-looked rims and better tires, you shouldn't choose this HPT option. Tires Acura has provided are not very decent.

If you go for the automatic make sure you make a deal to trade the standard Bridgstone Turanza EL42 tires. There are a number of threads about how bad these tires are. A lot of people including myself have purchased Michelin Pilot Sports AS but the other threads list a number of other options. Leaving aside issues regarding flatspotting, which may have been addressed with the reformulated tires, the Turanzas are awful in the rain and in the snow.

if i were in LA i would definitely get the HPT option. you can get aftermarket tires like bridgestone s03 pole positions on your own but you won't get anything for the el42's that come on the car. those tires are not that good and it would be a shame to just throw them away. additional 200 bucks to trade those in for the HPT is a no brainer if you live in warm climate area. the A-spec is nice but to me its a little pricey for suspension and body kit.

I never thought that I would buy another car that wasn't german again after my Volkswagens and Mercedes, but once I test drove the Acura, I was hooked, get the 6-speed, no body moldings, get black interior too, you'll be happy.

Thanks for all the replies guys/gals. I am making a stop at the Infiniti and Lexus dealers before I go back to the Acura dealer. I just want to make sure I am making the right choice.

as far as flatspotting, i don't recall anyone in california having problems with it. i could be wrong. from what i heard flatspotting only occurs in areas with cold weather. i've always had the EL42s TU2 version and have no complaints.

no for you going to infiniti i can only imagine your face when you look at the G35 and all the crap you have to buy before you can add the navigation. that and the plastic interior was the biggest turn off for me when i compared the TL and the G35. good luck though and take your time, there's no rush unless you don't have any means of transportation
