Smile New member checking in! few ?'s

Well I finally decided to really post after being a member for a little while. We have had the car for over a year already and have loved every minute of it. Its technically my wifes car but she is 7 months pregnant and can't really get into her very easily so she is not driving my truck. I figured while I have her beast ill see what I can do to give her a nice personal touch. Here are the specs as far as I know...

2005 TL 3.2 V6
MT6 w/ Navi

It has a factory body kit which looks to be a ASPEC?

She has just over 96k on her and runs awesome.. The outside of the car wasn't really taken care of very well as it has alot of scratches and a few dents. Also has minor hail damage on the hood. Alot of the rock chips on the hood have started to rust already!! But either way we love the car.

I did do a bit of research on her before posting but just to make it easier is there anything that should have my attention now? I know at 105k the timing belt and water pump should be replaced. But is there anything else of importance? We do have a problem going into 3rd gear once and awhile which ive read is a common problem.

Also I have already done the Stage 2 to the exhaust. Not really please with the way she sounds. not as throaty as I would like but what can I expect for such a simple mod.

here is a picture of our ride... looking forward to a long stay here! Thanks already!

Car looks good...I like the black wheels...but why no tint??? That's an amazing 1st mod, especially if you already have the aspec kit and the black theme goin on...buy the wife a prius, fix the bodywork, and take care of your new TL!!

Slick looking NBP! You are right about the 3rd and 4th gear transmission pressure switches. Before you replace them, many members have suggested flushing your transmission fluid and running a special racing transmission fluid with less FM(friction modifiers) than our OEM honda transmission fluid. You should find a few threads on it, doing a couple quick searches here.

Just a point of clarification, he has a 6MT, so he should be using the GM Synchromesh Fluid to fix his 3rd gear issue- not a Type-F fluid that automatics use.

I had a 94 4.6 that just had appearance mods.. then I upgraded to a 96 4.6 that was full built. motor/trans/rear end everything.. Were you ever on Tccoa.com?

Ill surely look into that transmission fluid asap! Ive been wanting to tint her as well!

Congrats and welcome to AZ! You may want to register her at www.myacura.com. Save your Navi and radio codes there for safe keeping.

Thanks guys!! just a quick ?.. I took the center top piece off the intake to paint and noticed there was a ton of nasty shit inside... is this common for a almost 100k car? I ran auto-rx through it so it should help, this stuff is amazing!

Thanks!

With 96K on the car you've barely broken it in! The timing belt and the whole service is done at 105K, but my MID recently gave the code to do it at 112K miles so it's really up to you if you want to wait for the MID or just do it at 105K. I personally went a bit over and beyond on the 105K service and did all the belts, tensioners, water pump, thermostat, coolant flush, Power Steering Flush, new transmission (the old one went bye-bye but acura picked up most of the tab), Valve Adjustment, new gaskets and new spark plugs + seals.

The kit on your car is the Acura A-Spec upgrade (front, sides and rear). You can get the hail damage removed easily via some Paintless Dent Removal. These places usually charge 100 dollars for a whole panel and remove all the dents on it. Just beware that if there's a crease in the middle of the dent or if it's on a body line it may be hard or impossible to remove with PDR. You can usually go online and find one in your area and get a free estimate. As far as the rock chips, if they are rusting you might want to clean up the rust and apply some touch-up. A trick to it is to use a toothpick and let it flow into the chip (after cleaning up the rust).

As far as the 3rd gear goes, go for the GM Synchro Modified Fluid or the new Acura MTF. It works very well to solve the 3rd gear issue without taking the trans. apart and putting in the updated gear sets.

She's looking good! Get your windows tinted!!!

Thanks!
The stuff on the inside of the intake manifold is oil and exhaust gases from the PCV system and then emissions system to help cut down on pollution. Running a cleaner through a Vac. intake line such as seafoam helps quite a bit to remove it. However the best thing to do is take it off and clean it up well with some carb cleaner!

Very slick! I love how this car looks. I do agree with what others were saying that the tint should be a bit darker but other than that its a pretty amazing ride.

Very nice.

Recommend taking the intake manifold off and cleaning it completely. That's usually the best way to do it. I would also clean the throttle body, replace the plugs and the PCV valve. Rear plugs are a PITA.

Depending on where you bought the car you may also want to change the cabin air filter and engine air filter.

Most of these are just simple TLC stuff.

Hi, I'm the wife/owner! I'd love to black everything out but we live in a state where it's pretty much illegal to make your car look nice. Eventually it'll be tinted but we won't be able to go very dark without getting hassled by the cops. Taillights were blacked out but we had to remove it for insurance purposes after I got rear ended Car still looks great as it is so I'm happy with it.

OH and P.S. - I'm an soooooooooo not a Prius driver!

Sorry to hear you got rear ended, but the car is still tight! Real bonus...you're not a Prius driver. For some reason in CA Prius drivers drive like they have sport cars.
