Interior LED change

I just picked up my TL tonite and I want to change some of the interior lights to LEDs

Just a quick and dumb question, sorry if it's been asked already, but I did a quick search and couldn't pull up anything.

If I get these bulbs
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2x-T1...Q5fAccessories

It's just a simple plug and play right?

Thanks!

If you want space ship bright get these.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_3029wt_1139

They fit in all four map lights and the door lights. They wouldn't fit my trunk light but I figured nobody ever sees the actual trunk light lens anyways so I just stuck it to the outside of the trunk light lens. Less than $50 for seven of them. In fact, they were so bright when I turned one on while driving on a dark freeway that I had to shield my eyes! I decided to change out the drivers side front one to a red one to better protect my night vision. Sadly, red ones cost three times as much. Good luck with your LED search.

it will definitely be brighter than stock. which ones did you end up ordering? the 15 smd ones are 6k so they'll have a tint of blue to the white.

if you're looking for pure white v-leds.com is a good website. also check out superbrightleds.com

i went with http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...viewsTabAnchor

for map lights, mirror lights, and rear passengers, and they are BRIGHT. i can't imagine how bright 13 leds is...

i also use the 5 smd led ones in my license plate lights and they are plenty bright.

i say get http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...viewsTabAnchor X3 (the pricing is for a pair, so 7.99 for 2 LED bulbs) or, add 1 if you want your mirrors done, or add another 1 if you want your license plate lights also.

total is 10 leds of 194

Correct. LED BOARDS WILL NOT DIM AT THE SAME LINEAR RATE AS A FILAMENT BULB.

damn 2-3 weeks for delivery is a long wait, but at <$2 per bulb i guess that's a deal... i'd stick with v-leds though cause most of those ebay leds are from china and burn out over time.

never though about getting white filament bulbs, but to be honest why would you even bother? just get LEDs for everything interior and call it a day. i'm not the type of person that likes to have all my interior lights shine on when i open my doors so i'm not worried about them "dimming" cause i have that setting set to OFF. lights only come on when i press the map light to see something

but i have set it to where it automatically turns on when i press the unlock button or open my doors just to test it out, and it DOES STILL DIM. it dims enough to where you can notice it dimming out, but the transition isn't as slow and smooth like a filament bulb, but NONETHELESS IT STILL DIMS OUT.

don't let that scare you away from getting LED's. just because LED's don't transition dim out as smooth as a filament bulb. the brightness and clarity you get from a LED bulb far surpasses a filament bulb anyday...

LED > filament bulbs for interior lights anyday.
and for the record
LED > white filament or super white or hyper white or diamond white filaments.....

Yes, these do a fantastic job. The M-4 is what you will need for the doors, rear passenger and console lights.

Which interior lights do you use these for? The picture may be deceiving but it looks pretty big. I've wanted to change mine out but haven't really looked that far into it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

ordered red led's for maps and doors from vleds.com
Gonna get white for vanity mirrors so they actually work for the women.

Got cree super brights for reverse and a set for license plate. Waiting on delivery.

I ordered switchbacks as well.

For around 100.00 to get almost all lights I think this is a very costly mod that really enhances the interior feel of the car.

That's similar to what I've got, but more SMD's.

Front Map lights, rear dome light and trunk.

I also would like to change my interior lights with LED. However, I dont want them being too bright to hurt my eye while maintaining the "white" look. what "color"/bulb would you guys recommend?

I used these for the door courtesy lights and license plate lights. They are plenty bright, a good white color (not too blue), reversible, and only $2.99 a pair!

If you don't want them to be too bright, I suggest you get something like THIS, you'd get the 360° view but not too many LED's.

JLui83,
I sold my TLS and removed all the interior LED's prior to sale if your interested in them. I did a LOT of research prior to purchase and got the absolute best ones I could find. I wanted an OEM LED interior look similar to the color and output of the newer 09+ TL's. The ones I found have the best color and dont turn your interior into a rice rocket or a dance club lol. I will send you a PM to see if your interested.

James

^ not at current moment. Was just playing around with snake. I had to give up the GF, my new gf that takes all my time is my TL now. Her name is Natalia and she is a crazy bish.
Can't wait for sun to go down to check out my new lights.

But sticky rice got me thinking about 48 led's now. Depending on how bright mine are.

Gonna do oil change, tranny change over to gm syncromesh and install switchbacks tonight.
