New Kid on the Block

Greetings-
Well i finally took the plung last month and traded my Mustang GT for the '04 TL. I suppose it was time to grow up some since i will be 30 next month! Anyway I have owned the car for about a month now and have a total of about 150 miles. So far so good, and I am looking forward to any information I can gain from this board. I have one question right now concerning the power outlet inside the armrest. I like to charge my cell phone using this outlet but it seems there is no power going to the outlet unless the car is running. Is this correct, or is there a problem with mine?

Thanks Guys,
EZ

congrats, hope she brings you as much joy as my TL has for me and everyone elses

that's correct. you won't get power unless the key is in. i think Fords the car can be off and still get power to the outlet. a friend of mine has a focus and he can charge his cell while we go and eat at a restaurant or something.

i like that the power gets cut when they key is not in. prevents me from leaving something plugged in by accident and draining the battery.

Thanks, i was hoping it was just somthing wrong with my wiring though. When i had the mustang i could leave things plugged into for days and I never had a problem with the battery. I'm sure there is a simple way to rewire the outlet so it's always hot, I'd just need to see a schematic.

Thanks Again Fellas

Welcome aboard! Please post pics of wifes nipples. Part of the screening process for the forum. Sucks, I know, but I don't make the rules.

I did't get the navi, i really liked it at the dealership and thought it would come in handy at times, but just couldn't justify the extra 2k, nor could i afford it so that made the decision pretty easy. No body molding either, or high performance tires. I do intend to get the XM radio, that is quite the marketing ply they have with the free trial, gets ya hooked. I guess you could say it's pretty plain Jane, but i love it just the same.

You are going to regret not getting the navi, big time. Don't mean to rain on your parade. Enjoy the car! You screwed up on the navi though.

So far, it is proven conclusively that Acura TL drivers prefer their babes' lips short, their nips long, and their feet covered. Strange group.

He drove 150 miles in one month. What on earth would he need a navi for?

Mike
Who drives triple that and doesn't even come close to needing it either.

Dude, no offense, but if you can't afford to spend another 6% on a luxury car, don't you think you might have picked a different mode of transportation within the Honda family?

Just seems to me that there are a lot of youngsters in here penny pinching on cheap gas, bypassing XM subscriptions, laying puffy protection lumps to avoid ding removal bills, driving 500 miles away to save $400 at another dealer......you bought a LUXURY CAR people, a LUXURY CAR .

Act like LUXURY CAR owners. What the fu*k is the point of spending $10k to put an Acura badge on the Honda Accord you really should have bought instead? You wasted $10k, so why not waste another $2k on the navi? Why not fork over $8 bucks a month for XM? Being a poser is one thing, but this makes no sense at all.

Chill out bro.....Seriously why do you even care what other people deside on? Is it really that big of a deal to you? Maybe Acura should have only made one model with all the options so guys like you don't get their panties in a bunch.

Logic dictates that if you couldn't afford a measely $2k to get the best feature on the car you likely couldn't afford the $32k the car cost, right?

I guess I find it annoying that some people view the TL as a step-up from an Accord and try to justify the extra $10k just for a badge. Oh, and then they take the badge off because a de-badged car is some mark of honor. Go figure.

I think we should start a PSU club Rescue and Nittany...

What are your degrees in? Or what did you study?

And yeah, Joe Pa rules, but needs to retire.

I could have sworn they promised me more for my extra 10k then just a badge. I should have talked to you prior to buying this car, might have saved me some money. And since I don't have a "measely 2k" laying around I could have used it!
I thought I read somewhere about a 24 valve 270hp motor, 238 ft. lbs torque, DVD Audio, and a host of other upgrades. That must have been just Acura propaganda. (boy am i pissed!) I'll look you up before I make my next purchase so you can set me straight. Thanks for the advise Einstein.

P.S. Would it make you feel better if I promised to always have my Rand McNally road atlas with me?

You're really easily annoyed and your logic is flawed. You can get the navi in an Accord. There are even TL owners who have activated the Accord navi software so they can get the trip computer on their Navi screen!

ANYONE who buys a TL even with Navi is paying the extra $10k "just for a badge" (your words, not mine). It's the rest of the car that makes it a TL, not the Navi.

Nittany Lion - Congrats and no doubt you will love your car even if it doesn't have the navi. Most people have a hard time defining their spending limits - good for you.

You really like that word "puffy", don't you? Does your girlfriend have "puffy" nipples or "p-diddy" nipples? Just curious.

Nittany Lion, don't sweat it. Enjoy your car and don't look back. I liked the navi as well, but I could not justify the cost, as I prefer to take that 2K and use it towards getting a new house. The stereo, XM radio and the HFL phone are off the chain, and will give you more than enough entertainment. Drive it like you stole it!

congrats on the car. It's definitely worth it! I'm wasn't too sure about the XM but lately i've found myself listening to that more than the regular local stations.

I'm a PSU alumi too...go PSU! Maybe we should start team PSU on here since there seems to be a number of us on board..

OK, I can't recall the last time I said this, but...that is something I have never seen before. Is that for real or just PhotoShopped? Bizarre.
