New idea for modded tail light

So i was wondering, has anyone tried to paint the gunmetal parts of the type s tail lights black and leave the red parts alone?
I think it would look nice on a NBP.
Anyone wanna photoshop it?

Done it, it sorta won't look right. When you paint that part black, and cover it back up with that outer clear plastic cover, it will dull the color and lighten it up. The reason the gunmetal chrome doesn't get dull is because it reflects. If you paint it black or NBP, you lose that reflectiveness and it will be useless.

I dremeled open mine, painted the gunmetal parts NBP paint, and just cleared the red parts. I did test with the red parts to see how it looked with the painted dark chrome piece and it looked somewhat the same, or dull looking as I would more put it.

How do you guys think painting that gun metal trim white will look on WDP? keeping the reflectors red still. Anybody photoshop it? I have the tails coming soon and can't decide what i want to do.

With the exception of the red reflectors, that's pretty much what I have. I just finished resealing them last night and will be installing this weekend. Gunmetal metallic trim, light smoke tinted lenses and reflector.
