New here, introduction.

Hey all,

I just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I don't have my TL yet, and it may be some time until I get my hands on it.

I'm real particular. Right now I'm just preparing my credit and then will need a month or two to save a down payment, then the search is on. I've been keeping my eye out for what I want, and it seems it will be a tough search.

I am looking for an 07-08 Type S 6 speed. NHBP, white or that carbon grey color. (I'm new, don't know the color names). Also, I'd prefer the "silver" and black or dark grey two tone seats, though that's subject to change, I haven't seen it in person.

I'm coming from the Integra world, so I already know and love NHBP. Wish they came in championship white. Tasty.

Welcome!
I suggest you start looking NOW!
6speeds are quite hard to find. Just take your time and have fun!
it took me roughly about 3 months to find a 6 speed.

Early congrats! I just bought the exact car I wanted 2 weeks ago. Just be patient and have fun and don't settle. You'll regret it later. I couldn't be more happy with my baby.

I have noticed that manuals only represent about 2% of the online ads I've looked at, but I'm hoping when I'm fully prepared to buy, the car will be there. Just last week I found the perfect car. 6spd with NHBP paint and even what looked like the ASpec front bumper, though it was probably just the 07-08 kit. 07 with only 25k miles for $22000, and that was at a dealer, so not a bad price at all from what I've observed.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I can't wait to get involved in the community once I find the right car.

The White is WDP or white diamond pearl. As near as I can tell, there was no carbon grey TL-S. There was silver and a carbon bronze...no grey though!

Welcome to the forum. What year is your Teg? I have a 2008 WDP TLS and also have a 1990 Teg. While the TL does not feel as light and tossable as my Teg, I do enjoy its extra space & tech. Good luck in finding your TL!

Welcome, im new as well. The 6spd is hard to find for sure. I gave up and bought an auto due to not wanting to purchase a sight unseen one off the internet somewhere far away.

Champ White (repainted) '95 GS-R

I drove from Knoxville, TN to Ohio for that car, and I am willing to drive equally as far for the TL if need be. I wish manuals were as easy to find as back in the good ole days GS-Rs werent even offered in auto. I will not settle.

When I go to check out the car, is there anything specific to 07-08 Type S that I should be on the lookout for?

Thanks.

GSR are fun cars!

Mechanically my TL has been 100% trouble-free. However, mine does have the well known cosmetic issues such as mismatched bumper color, ashy dashboard, occasional buzz from speaker and a few other minor common problems that I can't recall.

After getting your car, you may want to swap out the stock TM fluid with the General Motors Synchromesh Friction Modified fluid and change the stock battery, all potential "weak" points that you can do a search on this forum.

For other common problems look into the Acura TSB sections here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/acura-servicenews-bulletins-588838/.

Coming from your greenhouse like GSR, you might also have to get adjusted to the rather large blind spots from the wide C-pillars and the high/rising beltline. I was so used to my almost panoramic outward view of my GS that I was initially quite uncomfortable changing lanes in the TL because of the large blind spots.

G/L.

Welcome to AZ Thrasher and Jerssay!

Thrasher - good luck on your search. A six-speed is rather hard to find, so take your time. Don't settle. The longer you wait, the more money you can save up!

Thanks. The whole time I've had my eye out for TLs I've only ever seen 2 or 3 FS in the southeast online. I'm sure theres some hiding on dealer lots.

Carmax seems promising, since you can search their entire national inventory, but they seem a little pricey. Does anybody have any opinions on Carmax?

Yes, but only within 5 minutes of posting. If after 5 mins, you can have a moderator edit for you.

I just purchased my 06 TL from carmax yesterday. The whole process was easy. Its very hard to find used 3g tl's for sale in my area for some reason. I would say that its rare if you do find one in good shape, however there are LOTS of them on the roads around here so that tells me that they are in demand and very desirable. I had my car transferred from a carmax location out of state, and there was a transfer fee but I think its worth it if you find a car you like. Carmax really extends your reach.
