Hey guy's I just wanted to introduce myself and say I'm looking forward to being a pround TL owner. I curently have a 94 Legend LS coupe blk/blk with all the possable mods... springs, struts, exhaust, intake,big brake upgrade, rims.... you get the idea, well I do however have a question. I have not purchused a TL yet but am in the works with one (04 5spd w/navi). but have recently been kind of turned off by how many bad reports I have heard about them ie.. TSB 05-017, rattles, .... so I just wanted to know if it is really that bad or is it just noticable to people who have come from higher end cars and or stock cars (BMW Lexus Infinity) as I have not. Granted my legend is very nice, it's tricked out so i'm very use to vibrations from bass, very loud exhaust, stiff springs and all that other great stuff, so I guess I really just wanted some imput from people who have modded there TL's (wich I plan on doing the day I take ownership) or who have not come from higher end/stock cars. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Short version.. What do I need to worrie about? and will I notice some of the common problems after modification?

 

I love my 05 AT TL since day one i got it. you have nothing to worry about, those little rattles are nothing, just turn the volume up. I have no problem so far with my TL. The more mods i do to it the more i love it(my car).

 

The more you mod, the more you love! I don't notice rattles! (06 6MT)

 

Maybe not about what you are asking but if they want to sell you extended warranty for $2K, make sure you pass it and buy the same thing online for $965.

Also please make sure that the car does not have the 1500-2000 RPM vibration and drone while driving under that RPM range. You will hate the car if you ended up with one having this widely known problem.

 

I love my TL and will be purchasing a TL-S next week. The fact that so many people on this site have replaced their 3G TL with another 3G TL (TLS or not) is true proof how we feel about our cars.

 

Recognize that the the folks on this site, myself included, are in general a bunch of whiners.
Get the car. They are awesome. If you are worried about the rattles, I think the 05s and up had fewer. My 06mt has a few, but you can't tell with the radio above 10 or so.

 

My late-build 04 TL has never had a rattle, nor have I been back to the dealer for any warranty work It's been a sweetheart of a car; comfortable, quiet, and powerful. Gee-whiz gadgetry too.

 

My 05 has treated me very well. There is an occasional rattle or two but don't think for one second that other cars in this class don't have problems.
