New guy
New guy here, coming from a 2002 Lexus IS300. I have been looking for a bigger, more mature car for the past month or so. I think I have found what I have been looking for. I have looked at the BMW 330i, A4, and TL. BMW has reliability problems, same with Audi, but you also pay much more for options the Acura comes standard with - so that leaves me with the TL.
I don't want to sacrifice the reliability of my Lexus just for a newer car. I won't have to with the TL. Love the interior and exterior appearance as well.
Questions - Does the 2006 TL have the voice activated GPS, just like the 2007?
And is $24,900 good for a TL w/ navigation and 20,000 miles on the odometer?
Thanks
Gary

You can't be serious?.. Carmax is overinflated no matter if they 'Certify' them or not.. and their no haggling price tag is horse
. Buy from Acura.. they typically won't sell you a car unless it was treated well & has a good inspection but beware, a member bought from Acura that had an undisclosed accident history that slipped past the dealer. An easy trick to check for bondo is take a small fridge magnet and place it along the fenders, doors and uni-body. Also check under the panels in the trunk for damage.
Getting back to the price.. it's too much. Another member just paid $20k for an '06 or '07 A-SPEC NBP TL w/ Ebony Interior 6M/T Navi & ~30k miles w/ a 100k mile Acura Ext. Warranty. There are many many good deals out there and most you need to haggle. My advice, find the TL you want, get it inspected, check the fluids and make sure you know about the problems and recalls on the 3G TL.The TL may not be as reliable (tranny problems, rattles) but they are a lot of fun and decent size sedans, much roomier than the IS.

Anyways, you should love the TL. What year is that TL? $24,900 is a lot unless you're talking about a Type-S TL. If not Type-S, you can easily find base TLs (2006/2007) for 18k-21k at decent mileage and still with warranty. One thing you'll have to worry about is Honda/Acura transmissions, but with a ATF cooler it would lengthen the time of the transmission and daily maintenance can easily make it last longer. You could also get extended warranty at a small price (make sure to get it before 60k miles). Good luck on your purchase, dont forget, TL for the best car for mix of luxury, quality, speed, and longetivity!

Oh yeah NEVER BUY FROM CARMAX, I see 1998 Honda Accords for 11k with 165k. They always overcharge there cars.
welcome to acurazine
all TL's with navi,2004-2008, have voice activation. The system was improved for 2007 so you could tell it street names when entering a destination. The 06 TL is a very nice car, but I suggest as well looking at the TL-S (2007-2008). Its still as refined as the TL, but has some extra power and as well its a bit sportier, so you can still have your mature side, but also keep the lead foot happy too.

The TL I am looking at is an 07, not a S-Type. Thanks for the warm welcome and comments so far everyone, appreciate it.
Someone mentioned this car has tranny problems? Really? I always thought Honda/Acura were the most reliable cars you can find. I plan on keeping this car for quite a while (at least 3 years), so I need something to last; which is why I am trying to stay away from Audi/BMW. I will be purchasing an extended warranty - the longest one I can.
I treat my cars really well with regular oil changes and perform scheduled/mileage maintenances - 3 years shouldn't be much to ask for, right?
Edit: Don't worry, I will never buy from CarMax. I bought my IS from there, and will never go back. It took two months to get a new CD player out of carmax WITH a warranty. The purchasing process was pretty smooth, but their service department is terrible.
Thanks again

Gary,
I just bought an 07 TL on Friday. It was a silver (SSM) car with 13,000 miles. It had recently been certified by an Acura dealer that then went out of business (meaning that the car met their inspection points just 40 days ago, but since I didn't buy it from an Acura dealer, my warranty did not get the benefits of being certified). It does not have navigation, but the low milage made up for it in my opinion. Anyway, I paid $23,500 plus taxes (doc fees, temp tag included). Just a data point for your search.
I'm sure there are people on here that got better deals, but I can tell you that I looked for a month and that I thought that was a good price on a car that new, in that good of condition with low milage.
Hope you find the right car for you!

Hey Gary welcome to Acurazine,
I actually use to own a 2002 IS300 and I can personally tell you that my 04 Acura TL blows it out of the water. Performance, design, sound system, and the room trumps that of a IS300. When I bought my IS300 I was so geeked but then when I started driving it more and then had my friends in the car I realized quick how small it was inside and how slow it was.
Just like you stated above Audi and BMW are beautiful cars but for the money and peace of mind you can't go wrong with Acura or Honda or Toyota.
