New to the forums, just bought a '07 TL Type-S (PICS)
Hey guys, Just bought a 07 tl type s wit 73k miles. The car looks basically new, it is in prestine condition. New tires, brake pads and rotors up front. I got it for 14k which I thought was a deal. Drove it home 350 miles and got 29.5 mpg.
Anyways, I had a few questions. It is an automatic, and having come from a couple 03 supercharged cobras that only come in manuals and have anywhere from 500-600 rwhp,it is a little different lol. I read some stuff about these trannys. With my car I feel the downshifts, they aren't major but you can feel them a little bit. Is this common, or something I should be worried about?
I also read a little bit about the clunk in the rear end with the struts. Mine does it a little bit on the rear drivers side. Will the dealer replace it for free since it is a known problem or will it cost? Im not too worried about it but I figured Id ask.
Regards,
Derek

Correct spelling is kinetic blue pearl aka KBP. Car looks great and it seems you got a great deal. The automatic Type S's are known for firm downshifts. I had an auto Type S and IMO it was a bit annoying, but absolutely nothing wrong with your tranny, its normal operation.
The rear strut clunk is also a common thing and I believe there is a TSB on the issue. Your car is way out of factory warranty so no it will not be covered it will be out of pocket. If your good with cars im sure you can tackle it yourself. Lookup the TSB and see what the fix is.
So besides minor things here and there, the Type S is a very solid and reliable car and if taken care of its going to treat you well. Good luck with the car and congrats on the purchase.

Thanks for the responses guys. I still have to sit down and read the manual and get all the electronics worked out. For some reason my radio presets are going back to random stations. Im sure its one of the key settings or something.
The engine breaking is kind of cool lol, just something I have to get used to.

Welcome and congrats on the car!! That sounds like a great deal too. Yeah definitely read the owner's manual, there's all the information you'll need in there, particularly about setting up HFL, homelink, and the voice commands for the nav (if you're into that).

OP I think your right about the presets. In the settings in the MID you can link settings to the key fobs. Turn that off. Or I can't remember if that's not a setting that's a simple on or off in the menu, you do a sequence on the fob itself. Either way the book tells you.

^here is where to look for that TSB. Follow the instructions carefully! You may have to look through a few before you find it!
