New Clutch

My 2006 TL got a new clutch this week with 84K miles. It is OEM and installed at professional shop but I have noticed the RPMs seem a little higher now. Is this normal and maybe the RPMs were just too low on the old one? The day after the clutch was replaced I did have to take it back to have the axle seals replaced because of a major leak. I am getting 24-26 MPGs on it the past few days, mostly highway miles here in Orlando but I was getting 19-21 with the old clutch.

RPM shouldn't change after you replace the clutch.

RPM and mileage won't change, but because it's a new clutch assembly, you may be driving the car a little differently, e.g. short shifting and not hammering on the car.
Just remember, the transmission and rear gear ratios are the same, so the RPM's will remain the same at a given speed.

Sorry, I was not getting my notifications that people responded to my thread. I guess what I mean is im in 6th gear, on the highway doing say 75-80 and the RPMs are up around 2.5 - 3. I generally change gears before 3k rpms so when I see this I think "Am I still in 5th?" and check and no, I am in 6th. Maybe it's just me and in my head. Not having my car for the week it took to get it fixed may have heightened my senses or something.

I am doing the "Break in process" too by not getting on it and babying it for the first 500 miles with the new clutch. THe 1st night I brought it home I had a garage full of gear grease because something was plugged and then had axle seals replaced free of charge because they didn't do it when they replaced the clutch... I did notice the first night I got it back, when the plug wasn't in and I was loosing grease that as soon as I let off the clutch the car wanted to jump! That was crazy!
