New car, what to do?
New car, what to do?
So i just bought a new 08 Black TL-S AT... I don't know that much about cars, but do you guys have any suggestions on any modifications to make?
I'm pretty happy with its power (plus i really don't want to screw around with car and mess up the warranty), but something to make the car even sharper looking would be awesome.

Adam,
First, congrats on your purchase-you'll love the car. I'm kinda like you-I go for more asthetic add-on's.
You might consider wheels for your Type S. I put a roof spoiler on my Type S, which I really love-it looks great.
Many guys modify and colorize their grills, which also looks great.
I also put some tints on my headlights from Blue Batmobile. Check out his website at www.bluebatmobile.net. You can do your headlights in many different configurations and densities. Plus, you can also tint your driving lights as well with his product.
I also tinted all my windows (except the front window, naturally). That makes a big difference with the car.
Then, you can get into clearing your headlights-it's an in-depth process, but looks really good. You might also consider "Angel Eyes" for your headlights.
On the inside, I installed a Carbon Fiber interior trim kit-it looks very nice too. You can alos buy OEM carbon fiber pieces from Acura. I found that the non-OEM Carbon Fiber kits look more authentic that the Acura pieces though.
Other guys will offer suggestions for you, but that's some of what I've done. If you would like to see some of these mods, I can send you a link to my PhotoBucket site to check them out.

I'm def. considering tints, but i've heard something about installing moleskin felts before so not to scratch the tints...
The lip kit looks like a pretty good idea. I don't know about the wheels, i really like the Type S's wheels.
Does anyone know the difference between the suspension in the type S vs. the A spec suspension?

Don't waste all that money on suspension. The tl-s and aspec have almost the same suspension. And if the aspec rims are lighter then the tl-s rim, then u could get some hp from lighter car? And free mods for performance is to take off as much weight u have in ur car. Like the spare tire and tools in the back. If u have stuff over 5lbs just laying in ur car u could remove those. Also debage and tint, would be nice.
here ya go, all the info you will ever need. read through the whole thread.

as for type-S vs. A-spec suspension, the a-spec lowers the car by about .5 inch, and it firms up the ride to help improve cornering response and keep the car flat. Here are some good modifications that won't mess with the warranty:
LED interior Lights
Progress Rear Sway Bar - this will help reduce body roll during turns.
A-spec Body Kit
Custom Rims (the A-specs are about 10 or so pounds heavier than the type-S rims)
Weight Reduction (CF Hood, remove spare/jack, Lightweight Battery)
Rear-window lip
LED License-Plate Lights
Congrats!
You can clear the ambers from your head lights, change your HID bulbs, get HID fogs, get switchback LEDs for your turn signals... door visors...
The list will never end... just start somewhere. The longer you're on AZ, the more you'll mod (and spend).

Congrats on the new car!
I must warn you... this website will cause you much grief. Since I signed up my wife left me, my house foreclosed and I have to park in someone's garage at night so the repo man doesn't get it. But the car looks great
Naah just kidding. But you will spend a lot of money!

for the interior it is simple to do, a simple small flat head screw-driver is needed to pry off those plastic covers. for the headlights, you will need to take off the front bumper.

Thanks, really though are some of these even worth the hassle, like the suspension and the rear sway bar. The car already corners and has almost no body roll. Would lowering the body .5 inches even be really noticeable.
I like the LED lights and some of the lips that are around.
Someone else wrote about clearing your headlights... can someone explain what and why that is or point me to a thread that gives a good introduction to it.

the lip is the a-spec lip, call up tim at hondaacuraworld.com and he can get you the cheapest prices around for any accessory or part.
for the headlights, what it is is taking out the amber portion out of the light, so it is clear, basically it looks better. Also when the light is opened up, you can choose to do numerous things such as painting the inside of it differntly, getting rid of the reflectors, etc:
cleared: note the back section is the same as the rest of the light, it appears dark though
:Smoked, the housing is painted a darker color in the turn signal area:
You should
1. Change all your interior lights and back up light and license plate light (very easy and 300% satisfying)
2. Remove front license plate, and get some Decals in the color you like (or leave it black)
3.Get some Tint if you don't already have some
4. I would get new rims (unless you like type s rims)
5. Lower your car
6. Clear / Black out your lights
I haven't even done some of these and its hard to get yourself to do some of these but if you go thru this list, u gonna love your car even more!

JLJL, Sounds like that should be pretty good... So i think my list is going to be something like
1. Replace interior lights
2. Replace License plate light
3. Get some tints, i'll have to read about this a lot first
4. Clear my lights... i don't think i really like the black out
Things to consider
Sway bar
A spec lip kit
I love the Type-S Rims. They're just awesome looking.

Clearing your lights requires baking of the housings so... unless you're confident you can do this, I'd pay JnC to do them for you.
The RSB is awesome... I believe the Type-S one is 20mm and the Progress one is 23mm. It was a big improvement from the base TL (17mm) so I really enjoyed this mod.
Since we talked about the acceleration lag (in the parking lot!), you should consider a J pipe, a test pipe, a CAI, precat deletes and a catback exhaust. Several vendors on here offer them. Check out ATLP, Jshift (not an official vendor), XLR8... Comptech, Greddy also have catbacks for 3G TLs.
Now get back to work!!

congrats on a BEAUTIFUL new car man! i see that you're going strictly with aesthetics only eh? well, as others mentioned, your first mod: tint. then aspec body kit, then a drop...take it from there man! wheels...clear/black your headlights, angel eyes, etc.
1. 9500ci radar/laser detector with integrated installation
2. clearbra everything
3. then add all this cosmetic crap on that everyone is suggesting (although if you are adding lips and stuff then you will have to do that before adding clearbra...so you have to figure out your budget up front I guess.)

I've seen something like that done before on a car, and it looked terrible because you could tell it was done and it slightly changed the way the paint looked... was this just a bad one? Do they make good ones that are unnoticeable.
