neuronbob trades up to RL

I pulled the trigger tonight. I traded my 3-year-old TL A-Spec for a 2006 Celestial Silver/Taupe RL. I couldn't resist the deal I got, and the easy accessibility of the RL. Let's just say......a TL with 56k miles is worth A LOT even in a dealer trade.

Old-timers will recall that I was one of the first 3G TL owners to post here. I will miss my TL. I loved it SO much, but I was tempted by the RL.....I simply couldn't resist this year.....I'm so weak.....I wish I could've kept both....one for those moods where I want to drive fast and one for luxury. *snif*. The sporty side of me will be satisfied when I put an A-Spec suspension and some REAL tires on the RL before the winter.....

I will still be modding here in the 3G section, so don't think you can get away with anything....heheheheheh

Will post a terminal review of the TL when I get a chance this weekend.

Edited for pics:

^ Bob: The RL is extremely nice! It's definitely a trade up for you I see alot of them around here and I'm sure you won't miss the TL. Now that you got the RL, you should give up your moderator job and hand it over to me

Congrats. You only go around once, so I'm glad you pulled the trigger. I keep telling my wife I don't want to be 75 when I finally get my Corvette! PIX? $$$?

Hate to see you leave the TL forum. You've had many good posts. On the other hand, welcome to the RL forum. I look forward to your input on the 2nd Gen RLs.

Oh, I am DEFINITELY not leaving the TL forum even though I'm already posting a lot in RL. I am geeked to find out whether Acura finally gives us TL owners what we want.....RWD or AWD in 2009.

I could be back in a TL. Especially if the RL heats up in the used market in 2-3 years.

No pix tonight as it was dark when I left the dealer after 4 hours! Will do so for us (you) TL folks over the weekend.

I didn't trade it with my RonJons! You have GOT to be kidding. They will be for sale in a few days in the Black Market...they'll be used to finance my RL A-Spec suspension and wheels, or maybe another set of RonJons....

and rather than a Honda Legend conversion, I would love to do the Mugen M1 conversion. THAT would be SICK.

Congratulations from another TL'er seriously considering the RL. But I'll keep my TL.

I'll be watching the RL forum for your initial review. And maybe you can help wake that place up!

Let me know about the RonJon's!

You traded up because you didn't want to lose to me at the Jay Honda show like Bill did. That is my next mod.

I'll win next time because I'll have the only RL. They are RARE on the road around here!

Congrats on the great new ride, I wish our TLs had RL's AWD the major feature it's lacking in my opinion to make it perfect, then you would have probably stayed with yours. Enjoy!!!

By the way I'm too interested in your rims if/when they are available, thanks.

Darn, another reason to hate the fact that I didn't push myself to study harder and go to med school. When I grow up I wanna be like neuronbob. Had a feeling you were gonna jump, congratulations.

A wise man told me long ago...If you don't want to buy a new car, don't go sitting in em.

Wow, you did it. I was about to trade mine in too but couldnt do it. The RL didnt grab me like the TL. The price was also similar to the Inifiniti M's.

What a subtle way to tell bob to get to work over in RL, but don't forget we need him here too.

Congrats, bob, and enjoy the plush luxury and sophisticated handling features.

Looking forward to your review of the RL. I drove my friends 05 RL and was underwhelmed after being in my 04TL for a year. You must give the details of the trade.

can you possibily give me an idea how much you got for trade in?
and was your car full aspec? how many miles?

i was wondering if the dealer acutally gives you extra value for full aspec.

Wow Bob. Congrats on your purchase! Both are fine cars, I have always tossed around the idea, I just have put so much money into the TL I don't know if I could part with it. We are expecting a classic neuronbob review on the RL. What was the deal?

RL is an overall quality car. Great choice and nice to see you're still sticking to Acura rather than trading for a Benz or BMW.

Thumbs up Congratulations Bob...

Bob,

Congratulations on the New RL. That is one nice automobile. If the Beancounters over at Acura ever got around to adjusting their Canadian prices
to match the current exchange rate etc., we would most likely be looking to
trade up too. But, should the next Gen. come with the SH-AWD, look out
....... ENJOY and keep us up on your RL, good and bad. I am sure there are
lots of us on here who would be very interested in your well respected opinion of the car.

Say it ain't so Bob, say it ain't so!

Congratulations. I think the RL is one of the most beautiful premium level cars out there. I love the proportions.

We'll miss ya!

Did the encounter with the Valet have anything to do with you jumping to a RL? Did you see the TL as damaged goods, so to speak?

Congrats Bob! The RL is definitely a step up.

Maybe you can give us a RL vs TL comparison review in a few months.

Enjoy the new ride!

NIce going Bob! I wish I could do that too. RL is really nice and some of the features really facinates me. Tell us how the adaptable cruise and traffic nav works and paddle shifters.

Bob, the positive responses to your RL upgrade are unanimous and overwhelming!! In light of this, even though you no longer own a TL and could be stripped of your status as a moderator for the TL forum (just like a shareholder would be stripped of his shareholder rights if he sold his shares), on behalf of the TL forum members I propose that your esteemed moderator status be continued. However, this is contingent upon your continued contribution to the forum by letting us know about your likes and/or dislikes of your new RL vis-a-vis your now disowned TL.

Thanks for all the congrats. Pix are coming tomorrow, weather willing (it's been raining here in Cleveland. )

I say for the third time, I am not leaving the 3G TL forum. The Patrol will continue!

I've received many PM requests about my RonJon Devotion 1pfs. I will let you all know when I sell them, which will be in the next week or so, and (being a proper mod ) in the Black Market. In the interest of full disclosure, two have minimal curb rash and one was cracked (there's a thread on it) but has been remachined at the factory RonJon Wheels uses, and would have gone back on my TL had I not traded for the RL. In fact, if the RL didn't have a different bolt pattern from the TL, they would have gone on my RL.

Forgot to mention....no, the valet scrape had nothing to do with my decision. I have been researching this for about three months and the scrape delayed my final decision for a month as I mulled what to do. As it turns out, it had NO effect on the trade-in value.

I was feeling jealous until you mentioned you live in Cleveland. Bwahaha... kidding.

Congrats. My VIN is in the 5000's but I'll be plugging along in my TL for another 60-70k miles probably - just in time for the next gen TL(?). I remember when I started posting here. I don't post much, but I think we bought our cars about the same time and pretty much have the same mileage (I have 62,000+). The only negative I have with the RL is the tail which looks a bit generic, but everything else about the car is awesome.

Congrats on your purchase, and I hope I find enough reason to stick with Acura in the future as well. So far my car has been trouble and free. The only problems I have are with rattles and buzzes... I usually call my car the "Rattle & Hum" edition in honor of U2 and the rattles it makes. lol.

Errr.. I mean "So far my car has been trouble-free". It hasn't been trouble and it sure as hell wasn't free.
