Need some quick advice for my trip!!
Alright so I'm heading down to MIAMI tommorow and I just finished loading up my car and ready to leave. So I decided to just check my oil level and realized that its right on the lower line of the dipstick. So now heres the dillemma. I'm running Amsoil 0W-30 Synthetic oil however I do not know where to get that oil locally as I had to order it online. I would like to order a quart for my road trip as I only have 12000 miles on this oil and its rated to last till 20,000 miles.
Can I mix mobil 1 synthetic oil into this for the extra quart? And also 0W-30 is hard to find on the shelf also, so I would have to mix the 5W-30 and the 0W-30 so what would be the negatives of this?
If anyone knows where I can get AMSOIL locally around me let me know.
Thanx

Don't see any dealer's in your area, but mixing Mobil 1 is not a problem even with that viscosity. Actually, regular Dino oil can be used with Amsoil, but as the extended drain interval would be compromised with the regular oil, an oil change should be made in 2000/3000 miles.
Have a safe trip and looks like great weather conditions here in the NE. In fact, my snow blower will be getting started in the next hour.

Come on down, the weather is great! Bring your bathing suit. As far as oil is concerned, I think you'll be fine with some Mobile 1. Perhaps on your next Amsoil order you'll get an extra quart or two.

those wanting high interval change should run an analysis at 7500 miles to see where the oil is really at
www.blackstone-labs.com is a good place for testing ~$35- good info on site
many import parts stores and even name brand stores carry amz now, look in the phone book for import parts- make a few calls, you will find some
Or call amz and ask for the number of a local dealer- many racers are dealers and have some stock on hand, they dont advertise
the first number in oil is what the additives make the oil flowabilty/viscosity `function` as measured at 32 degrees F. the W means Winter
The base/main oil is the 2nd number- stuff put in it makes it work cold.
So it works like a 5, very easy flow to get it thru the passages when cold.
the other number is measured at 200f oil temp- normal operating zone.
This is where oil serves to protect the many metal parts smashing into each other thousands of times a minutes. 20 in gen3 is for CAFE standards (scam) 30 is good in both gen2 and 3

Just thought I'd add that I'll also be leaving for Florida on the 7th, but won't be driving the Acura. We'll be taking the knock around car, a 2008 Kia Optima. Not a bad highway vehicle as it's actually pretty comfortable and some interior dimensions are actually larger than the TL. I'll miss the factory Nav, but I do have a TomTom that we use in the Kia.
