Need some help with tint in socal...

So just got my CGP 05 TL A Spec and wanted to get it tinted because there is currently NO tint...I am a little worried about being pulled over because I drive fast enough as it is, and it is just one more thing, so I was thinking about going light, like 35% all the way around? What do you guys think?

Also, I was told by 1 shop 160 and I was told by one shop 200, and the reason it was 200 is because of the factory tint on Acuras, and if you don't do it a special way the windows streak very badly? Is this true, anyone know anything about this?

For $200 do they included mold skin where they put a strip along the window railings to prevent from streakings? $160 is a reasonable price if they includes warranty and also see what kind of material they uses? I have medium dark titanium tint all around.

I dont have mold skin on my car since I hardly roll up and down the window. $200 should be ok if it have warranty. Or shop around in your area.

Yeah I got mine done in Sherman Oaks at Sunshield Tint. I got 35% all windows w/ mole skin, rear windshield 20% . Its not too dark to where you can't see in but just right! I too was worried with cops, ive even pulled next to a couple at stop lights and its been fine so far.

There are actually quite a few threads on tinting in SoCal. Just perform a search for tint and my name and you'll find them quickly. I've posted pictures on my tint from Best Windows Tinting in many threads.

I was told by 4 diff places moleskin isn't needed because they use top quality tint? I don't know? I also read that when your car gets over 120 degrees inside, the moleskin glue might melt and all come off all over the tint? Once again I don't know? Only what I was TOLD and READ??? Whats up

Not a stupid post

No problems with the cops in socal? 20 in back, 35 all around sounds like a good option to me, or 20 back and 2 rears, and 35 in front maybe...

So, now, with the last post I am worried about the glue melting off, can some people chime in and confirm or deny this? Thanks!

So far no problems! I was gonna do 20 in the rears and 35 in the front but i personally think it looks nice with all the windows the same and the back 20. As far as the moleskin i would definitely get it. At sunshield they use Llumar tint which is top quality and my back window still scratched. The good thing is they warranty all their work. I went back and they installed the moleskin on all the windows and retinted the scratched one. I know there are several good shops in socal but i prefer sunshield tint. They have a good reputation and all the dealerships in Sherman Oaks refer customers to them.

I have a quick question regarding the back window tint on a 07 TL. I recently took my car down to a local tint shop and he said there might be problems trying to tint the upper rear window where the 3rd brake light is. He pointed out on the window where there is a raised mesh area around the brake light and that the tint might not stick to it that good. I knew exactly what he was talking about since I have a 95 Accord coupe that has the same raised mesh and the tint never really looked good on it.

I want the entire back window tinted over the 3rd brake light. If I have to I will remove the light before hand, but any suggestions on how everyone else has their rear window tinted over the mesh area?

It really depend on the material of the tint. I have solargard tint and it stick well for me. At the beginning there will be water and air bubble along the mesh area but after a few days it will dry up. You should leave your car outside the sun for a day for the water and bubble dries up. Also have your installer take out the 3rd brake light to do the tint.
Good Luck!

Depends who does it and what tint they use. I didn't even have to worry about it, they removed the 3rd brake light and tinted the whole back window with 3m tint. Looks great, no complaints! Make sure to use a reputable shop, do some research.
