Question Need a So Cal dealership who wont complain about mods.

I need to find a dealership that will not hassle me about my ride height. I am lowered on Tein SS and it is pretty low. I am having problems with some sort of noise that sounds like a bad wheels bearing and my tranny whining. I am not looking for answers to the problems, I am looking for a dealership to take the car to so they can look at it. I am located in Southern California. I used to take my TL to Planet Acura in Buena Park but they are now closed. So I have a few other dealerships close by but wanna hear some input from other people about what dealerships other people go to. Thanks in advance.

Everybody who's ever been to Planet Acura is sad about their closing down...

I've been to Tustin DCH, and they were OK...I have yet to try Cerritos, but that's probably where I'll start taking mine when I have to.

One thing is 100% sure: don't EVER take your car to South Coast!

I doubt you'd want to make the trip to San Diego, but Ball Acura has been good to me. My car is lowered about 1.25" and I don't get any grief from their service techs.

santa monica never gave me crap for warranty work and just general maintenance when i used to have a cai and dropped pretty low with 19's. i didn't really bring it in that much though. i feel like santa monica is fairly honest but it's just that if u get service through them they have high prices.

Santa Monica is straight up. But you're absolutely right, they charge very high prices. That's the place I'd go to, because my service advisor from Planet was transferred there, but it's a drive...

From my home...

Cerritos Acura: 9.1 miles
Acura of Glendale: 28.5 miles
Santa Monica Acura: 34 miles

This is why I'll go to Cerritos Acura before going to either Glendale or Santa Monica. Depending on Cerritos' service, I'll see from there.

Anymore input on Tustin DCH? That is close to my job and I could drop it off there during work hours.

Since the car is lowered- that drops the warranty aspect of any cv joint or wheel bearings from the picture

All you need is a local private owned shop repair shop that does acuras as a main business and does performance work
Look in the back of the phone book for one, also look at alignment shops

They will be ready with the riser boards needed to get your car on the lift, thats the main issue with low cars.
The dealer has lifts designed for certain minimum height
Private shops buy ones made to deal with the cars they work on

For the dealer its about the techs billable time and need to work on other cars- rather than spend extra time just getting your car in the air

I used to take my car there and George used to take good care of me. Now that he's gone I don't take my car to dealerships. OH yeah stay AWAY from south coast.

As i have it understood the dealer can't void warranty on your car or part unless they can prove that your modification directly caused the car or part to break down. They can't just say "I see you have replaced the coil overs, your warranty is void". I'll find reference for this tomorrow.

No but the op feels he has an issue with wheel bearings and that can be DIRECTLY related to a lowered suspension. A prefect example of how a dealer CAN link a failing part to a aftermarket modification and deny a warranty service.

Lowered cars void cv and ball joint warranty,,but wont affect trans warranty

How much would it cost to replace wheel bearings?

I've been lowered for about 28,000 miles and I'm starting to get a humming / rolling noise on my front passenger side.

a new cv axle assembly ('wheel bearings' on a fwd car) runs 100-150 per side at napa
Thats an axle shaft with new bearing at each end and new boots

you can get rebuilt units at other parts stores,,make a few calls locally
About an hour labor to remove the old axle and install the new one
Common failure on dropped cars as the system was not designed for that angle during running

To be honest im glad planet acura closed, I received some horrible service there. I heard a lot of good thing about tustin just on this forum. I have been to Cerritos a few times, since I bought my car there and went there a few times before planet acura opened. so I would say try either cerritos or tustin?

I keep hearing you guys talk about the Magnusson Act and stuff on these warranty threads. While this all sounds well and good in theory, in the real world, the dealer doesn't give a hoot. They know about all these defenses and don't care. They deny warranty claims whenever they feel like it. Ask me how I know. Certain dealers HATE my car the minute it rolls up with the mods.
