Need help from Type-S people!! PLEASE!

Okay so I bought a type-s intake manifold I it turns out that it doesn't have the air temperature sensor hole. It looks like this

When I though it was like this type-s (swapped into an accord)

Anyways, Could you people with the first IM tell me where the sensor goes?

anyone want to take a picture of their engine bay for me? I just want to see where the sensor goes... since obliviously I can't put it in the intake manifold.

Your first pic, with the spiffy engine bay, is NOT a Type-S Intake Manifold. It's from a 4G TL ('09 - '12). Not sure what all the differences are, but for one thing the 4G has a MAF sensor. Don't know the IAT location (if it even has one).

The parts drawing at the bottom of your first post IS a Type-S intake manifold. Mine is exactly like that, including the IAT location.

Don't know if you ordered the wrong part or some one shipped the wrong part or what. But I do know that if you have the IM in the first pic, you do NOT have a Type-S IM.

Well I got news for you, you definately did not buy a Type S manifold. You can see where the sensor is in that second picture.

Do you know where kibbles got that engine? I don't think it was his; you should ask him.

That IM is NOT a J35A8/Type-S IM. The cover looks right, but the IM itself is from a 4th Gen TL (or perhaps some other J35Zx equipped vehicle).

The cover from the J35A8, btw, is a costly bit of kit. Some kind of ultra light-weight magnesium alloy. The cover alone retails at $550; much, much more than the manifold itself.

I don't know of any pluses or minuses using a 4th Gen IM on the 3rd Gen TL. It may be perfectly fine - if you can get the sensor issues worked out.

I bought it from him. Since he was parting out a j35a8 07 tl-s. agh I confirmed the inlet and it's not the 3.7 shawd one. I'm like wtf.

There is a dyno on v.6.p that shows power gain thought the power band. but he was using a shawd I have like some unknown I'm now. Lol

Thanks guys! It means a lot to me for helping me out. Now I think I only have 2 opinion 1 get and aem v2 or take it to the machine ship and have them tap a hole for the im

O yeah one thing with this manifold the interal are super smooth. It's like it was polished internal. There are no castng left over like my accord intake manifold.

Did more research. IT looks like it came off an RL but its still different. The RL has the same sensor as the TL-S. and there are 2 different part numbers... I can find the on casted on the bottom but not the one painted on the top.

Another thing is that the TB from the accord and TL-s will not fit on this IM. It looks like it will need the Larger TB from the 2011 tl SHAWD. Now I am pissed!!! Going to call p2r and ask them if they have a solution for me. If not I am going to sell the IM and buy the correct year....

Honda decided to be stupid and make 2 different parts with similar part numbers....
006 17160-RKG-A00 *with IAT hole*
006 17160-RKG-A01 *without IAT hole*

Off an RL not an TL-S, but its still Magnesium since its cased MG on the manifold... now I need a 500 dollar tb unless P2R can make an adapter for it.

There are more 6-cyl IM's than that. And more differences than just whether or not it has an IAT sesnor postion.

Correct part number for the 3G TL-S is 17160-RDA-A00. Which is also the part for the '07/'08 base model.

Thank you for the help... Now this makes me wondering if the guy really had a type-s engine or an RL engine....

hey.

not sure what happened here, i did have a 07 TL Type S Engine that i parted out, but last year i also did a swap with a 09 RL Engine, not sure if somehow some way i sent the wrong manifold? but its the only one i had laying around so i was positive it was the correct one, if you want to send it back for a refund thats fine with me. dont want any bad feelings.
