Need Advice/Opinion

So I decided to post this in the 3G forumn, I currently own a kbp 6mt and a 04 5at base. As many may already know, my 5at is nearing 300,000 miles.

I found a local dealer that has a 2G RL on sale for $7500. The car is an 05 with 170k and I believe 2nd owner. It had the timing belt service already and is in pretty nice shape. They offered me 4500 for a trade in on my 5at so the difference is $3000. Would that be worth it?

My car is in excellent shape and I trust it to go anywhere, up to date on all service as well. Any advice or opinion would be appreciated.

I'll post pics of the RL and my TL

Half the mileage (close enough) and roomier with nicer features and AWD for $3k? Sounds like a good idea, my only concern would be how much more maintainence it might need. Do the AWD systems on those cars start to have issues at high mileage? See if you can find a private buyer for your TL and try to get another K or two out of it.

I would say, nice TL actually. Good job getting 300,000 miles out of it. It actually sounds like a decent trade, especially if it's only going to cost you $3K plus the TL trade in. I'd say do it if the RL is in really decent shape. I'd actually say do the trade vs. trying to sell it yourself, as it might take a while to sell with that much mileage, despite it being in excellent shape.

As mentioned above I would research problem areas of RLs unless you've already done so. If that checks out, I would go for it.

Nice job getting so many miles out of your TL btw, still looks fantastic.

Are you the original owner of the 05 5AT TL? If so, I say keep it. Who can say they have had a car that has lasted them for more than 300,000 miles? I would see how long you can keep her running in reasonable shape...it's not out of question to get another 300k miles out of it.

I'd keep the TL. Not knowing much info of the RL can come back and bite you in the rear.

Thanks for everyone's input, this is helping me make up my mind. I like the RL, I like the awd and few extra bells and whistles but then again the 3G TL styling is hands down the best IMO. I am confident my TL will last. I browsed the RL forumn and it sounds like the cars are pretty solid.

I might just go test drive it and see if there is anything that I do not like about the car. The RL to me still looks like a pretty nice car but not as attractive as the TL.

I do love my TL, I'll keep you guys updated!
