need advice, looking at a 2008 TL-S
Hello, I currently have a 2001 CL typeS, and I'm looking at getting a new TL-S with a 6spd.
I drove an auto, and it was nice, the problem is the dealer has no manuals on the lot. I drove a 2009 TSX 6spd, that was decent but underpowered. I did like the feel of teh 6spd tho. So i was wondering if the TL-S is as nice, even if it's an 'older' generation.
Also, it doesn't really have ipod or mp3 support through usb like the 2009 TSX does. Is there some 'thing' that i can get for the TL-S that will allow me to hookup my iPod, have it charge, and play music from it's pre-amp (connectors at the base, not the headphone jack).
Thanks in advance,
-Phil

There are numerous adapters that will let you do that.

Drive a 5AT TL-S as a test drive. If it doesn't kick the TSX's tail, I'll eat my hat.
Don't get me wrong TSX is a nice car (had a 1Gen as a loaner), but it's no Type S.
Then go search for a 6MT and snap it up. Probably not many left *anywhere*. If your're set on 6MT, be prepared to compromise on color (Int and/or Ext) selections.

I've heard that before. Drive 'em both, then decide.
By all account, TL-S (even in auto) is a TOTALLY different car than the '07/'08 Base trims.

I called around to some dealers in the southeast area of the US....the only 6-Speed TL-S is in Chattanooga, TN at Pye Acura. I called the dealer yesterday about it since I'm in the market for one....hes not budging on the price....37-38k. Its NBP too!!!! Woot! He claims its the only 6 speed TL-S in the south east area. I searched other dealers in the area and he seems to be right. So I dunno.

The TL-S 6MT is great - just do the GM fluid swap the instant you have a third gear issue and you won't regret it.
I drive mine in bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis and I don't know how I'd live with an auto. My left foot would serve no purpose anymore!

Thanks for the support everyone.
I decided to get a 6spd Silver with black ebony/silver interior that they tracked for me in MD [i live in FL]. they said the car was brand new, not even at a dealership yet. this was my 1st color choice, so i'm really happy.
The other ones that the dealer found were 2 black on black in Ga, but 1 is loaded with dealer installed options and is a demo, and they won't budge on the price, the other in Ga i was told has damage. There's also 1 in Miami that's silver with taupe interior.
I felt pretty good buying the car, they gave me a good price on it, plus the tech guy that takes care of me here at the acura dealership has always been really nice.
... now maybe i can sell my wife on some ronjon wheels ...

Apparently 3rd gear across a range of Honda/Acura models can tend to grind and/or pop out of gear. There is a TSB and Acura/Honda have changed Trans fluids to try to solve. Many here have found that using GM Friction Modified Synchromesh fluid solves the problem.

Alright guys, just to let you know that I took delivery last night of a the 6spd Silver with Black/Silver interior.
They told me that as far as they know, it's the last car with that particular color combo in 6spd in the USA.
So far the car rides great, got it with 9miles on board.

Ya, but i believe it only plays mp3s from a CD, not a DVD correct? Also, the reason why i want a basic ipod input/charge, that maintains iPod controls, is because I listen to a lot of DJ live sets, or trance radio shows (etn.fm, a state of trance, etc) which are 2 hours long most of the time... fast forwarding through that is a pain in the !@#$ if you have to hold the 'fast forward' button.
Thanks for the congratz "LoveMyTL-S", I really enjoy the car. the only thing now is that I have that rear deck vibration, and also reverse is a bit tall... so backing in slowly in the garage requires lots of clutch engage/disengage

too many hobbies...
Congrats on the new wheels! I totally hear you on how rare the 6MT's are.
I absolutely had to have KBP with 6MT and also really wanted the Taupe interior. I found one in Chicago, slightly used. I made the deal over the phone, flew out there, and 12 hours later I was tired as hell and had an ear-to-ear smile before crashing for the whole next day!
Well worth the effort now that I have the exact car I wanted!![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
For those of you that can't drive the MT: Do whatever it takes to learn! Find a friend with a beat up old Civic or something. It's so worth it.

Your MP3 question can be solved by going to the Dice website they have kits that can be installed to your TL.
TSX's I4 Engine is very nice thou. TL is nicer thou.
