NBP Curse..Does it ever end?

Hope everyone is well. I have been on much since the holidays bc of a death in the family... welll I'm back and it's time for me to vent, lol.

Well 2 weeks ago when we had a few inches of snow my raditor decides to spew out antifreeze... long story short acura replaced free of charge :o )

but wait that's not all....

So a week ago i'm driving down the turnpike and a small rock or whatever deflects off my winshield outta nowhere and BAAAAM cracked! It was literally the size of a quarter on the passenger side but still a sight I couldn't stand to look at. Well I had it repaired at no cost via safelite to figure out if I wanted to just deal with or replace it.... A week later the crack has spread like herpies and it's over well into my driverside...Well I had this special protection on my winshield just after I bought the car (can't forget what it's called...but it's basically like rain x on steroids and the shit is permanent) At the time I figured it was just a quick way to waste $250.. I called the dealership up told them what happened and would you friggen believe my new winshield w/ OEM replacement is covered at 100% I'm still pissed at the situation because the curse continues but tomorrow I'll be getting an 08 RL dealer demo. I'm actually considering biting the bullet and getting rid of the TL-S (or letting the wife take it over) and stepping up to the RL unless the 4th gen blows me away. Should I decide to go with the 08 RL I think i'm going to go with WDP (I hope my fellow NBP crew doesn't see this, lol) We'll see how the TL 4th gen debut goes at the autoshow!

oh man sucks that happened
good luck with that thought
i dont think you should let that determine whether or not you change it
Type S is still an amazing car, some bad luck... yeah
not enough for you to change it, but to each his own

and RL... if your gonna spend that kinda of money... 335i!!!
Stay young forever! lol

after the blackura wreck... i was gonna whip out the NBP 08 RL... but

a) the extra $9k... eh... id rather be a in 335i

b) all the people i know at Rallye Acura told me the same thing

"... you're not a 40 year old dentist who plays golf, get the Type S...."

they actually talked me out of spending an extra $9k and buying the RL... it is pimp though... definitely not sporty, but pimp

As many of you know it's not just these two events... I've had headache after headache... 07 Type S that I've had only a year and a few days and I already have 36K on the odometer but I'm on a first name basis with my body shop lol... If I keep it I'm planning on dropping some serious cash into her this spring and I guess I'm just worried that it's going to be all for a waste bc what if it gets totalled and then I've lost all the damn wrench time. As far as the RL being an old mans car... I've seen what can be done with an RL with the right vision.. infact one of our vendors had one for sale on several months ago... I shoulda jumped at that damn deal... oh well. Maybe I just need a color change lol

Allon, Is the 335I really that impressive? I've test drove an M3 before but I can't stand the styling of bmw maybe I should give them serious consideration? I love the Type S I'm just getting sick of this shit.. you've been in my shoes lol

Brad, Keep the Type S, man!

The RL is definitely nice, but you're a young guy, enjoy it while you can.

There are many years in a plush large sedan to come haha

PS...you owe me that NBP shoot

lol about the NBP curse.
It's extremely true.

I haven't driven for a long time, not a experienced driver. Just 3 years...
But out of the cars I've had, I was accident-less and scratch/dent damage-less in any car until I got my NBP Type-S. And accidents and damage numbers like cancer. I have had the car for less than one year, I've already damaged the car 4 times.

An NBP curse means that it affects us ALL, like the curse of the first-born or something. Not just one or two here and there. Allon, who conveniently invented this curse bullshit and ran to WDP, has bad luck with WDP as well. All kinds of variables go into why you increase accidents. Your driving habits, ego/testosterone pumping as you are whipping your modded TL around haphazardly, times spent looking around and not paying attention to the road because you are looking to see if others notice you...etc...no such fucking thing as a curse...

Well I got my winshield installed and after a few hours of driving in the RL I can honestly say it's just not my cup of tea at this time. It's different than going on twenty minute testdrive and just the look and smell of a new car... But after a few hours I just couldn't see myself pulling the trigger on this. You made a great point to me Ray for it to be what I want and for the power and look I would expect it would set me back a bit... thousands of dollars that could be going into the 4th gen TL-S. I guess the thought of the RL was nice when I went on a test drive and just saw it sitting there in the showroom... I took some sharp curves today and the SH-AWD is something they better put in our 4th gen . I Love the RL and the luxury appeals to me but there will be a time several years from now when I'm interested in more of a relaxed luxury style... Until then I'll plan with my scheduled mods.. Till Death do us part I guess :o ) The real question will be NBP or WDP 4th Gen Type S

I'll swap with you anytime Gus! I want mine cleared/blackened and with my busy life I just have never found the time to get them done. I have not even been able to get free even for a weekend to have Allon do em for me.

The TL-S is a sporty car with some luxury to it. The RL is a different ball game. I was considering the MUGEN LEGEND myself for my next car. The MUGEN Legend is no old-man's car: (MUGEN bodykit and few other things on USDM RL)

If you want to get the RL, Get one with the CMBS and PAX package. This makes the RL worth it. If you have the budget to spend a little more money, why not look into a used BMW 2004+ 750LI with ext. Warranty.

^^ Now that kit is exactly what i'm talking about!! I can't find the link but there was the white one here before in the blackmarket that a vendor ended up selling. It was incredible! someone has to know the one i'm referring to i'm sure!

I personally don't the syling of Bimmers... I actually associate bmw drivers as pricks.. nothing personal to anyone on here whom might own one or have friends/family that has one but most bmw owners I've come in contact with just seem to think they are above everyone else...maybe there just trying to compensate for something else i dunno.

ah.. ha... found it:

RLs are PIMP! BMW is overrated! Have you seen the interior of a Bimmer lately??? Can you say, "Out-dated?"
If money wasn't a thang, I rock a black RL, riding on Air-runner, Spinning on some Aggressive Staggered high polish SSR Vienna Zweels wheels wrapped with stretched tires, and a full Mugen Lip kit.
Anybody wanna fullful my vision by building one???

I'm guessing you're a newb. NBP is Acura's paint code for black.

NBP = Nighthawk Black Pearl
