Just picked up a 2005 TL and the Nav screen will display “downloading software” then it will display “please check disc”. I can’t even get it to go to the diagnostic menu.

I have seen some posts about issues with the navigations DVD player and it seems like a lot of people end up sending theirs to Alpine. Just wondering if that’s the route I should take.

 

I sent mine to Alpine in January and it was returned repaired and with a new navi disc. Just last week it started acting up again with different symptoms. Alpine said no problem even though it was out of warranty and replaced a bunch of circuit boards free of charge and returned working nicely again. Great service, but it is not inexpensive
