my TL won't stall

I noticed this "feature" a long time ago, but I have never seen it posted. When driving really slow (like in traffic), you never have to push in the clutch. If you let it slow down, the car won't let the engine drop below 750 RPM. This means you can putt along at 2 MPH without ever touching your clutch. Now, of course, most cars will putter and stall if you try to stop (with no brakes, of course) without depressing the clutch. It works out really well in stop and go traffic..kind of like an automatic. Just press the gas when you need to speed up then when the traffic slows again, let off and it brings it down to 2-3 MPH without ever stalling. Ahhh, the wonders of drive-by-wire!

Isn't this very bad for the engine?

is it jerky/lurchy at 750rpm whilst in gear? I'm not sure this is a "feature" of the TL

I do that with my Integra all the time. You can do it in 1st or 2nd gear, higher then that the car starts to growl a little. I don't think it's a feature of the TL. My father had a 90 300zx and a 93 vette both in stick and you can do the same thing in them without stalling.

Almost any stick with a good amount can do that as long as you are not going up a hill, and no, it isn't bad for the car.

It is not jerky at all, actually. And it does work up slight inclines. pretty cool!

I will try this later. Not sure if I want to try it out in traffic first. Don't want to stall if it doesn't work. Maybe try it in a empty parking lot.

My buddies CTS does this, it is definitely a cool feature. Not sure about the TL, but the CTS was designed to just that.

Agreed, it's not a "feature". I think the car just simply has enough power and torque at that rpm to keep it moving. It is nice, though.

I've observed this on flat or downhill. It stalls uphill if you are not careful with the RPM.

if you are on an incline the car will stall. i mean there is nothing magical about it. the clutch is engaged and the engine is spinning at a very slow rate so the car will crawl at a few miles an hour. doesn't really help in stop and go traffic as you have to depress the clutch and step on the brake to stop the car.
