Yes, the smiles are worth the infrequent gripes.

Auto, and no regrets !!!

I enjoy just flooring it, and let the computer decide the optimum gear to downshift into. I enjoy having the computer shift into the next gear at the optimum RPM while I aim (steer) the car under WOT with the AEM CAI and UR Pulley allowing the engine to scream.

This is the frist car that I ever driven where the computer is MY BEST FRIEND !!!!! In the years past with other cars, it seem that the computer was there just to keep the emissions low and at my expense (hurting performance). But, dam, with my 2006 TL, that computer acts if it is some kinda aftermarket high performance computer that is doing everything to optimize performance !!!! I LOVE MY AUTO TRANS AND COMPUTER (that controls the trans shifting).

3rd gear sometimes pisses me off, but only because it limits me from enjoying the 6MT to the fullest.

5AT here love it. While a 6MT would be very fun I don't regret getting the 5AT.

Spend my time in Boston and NYC so the 5AT is perfect in traffic. Especially Manhattan gridlock. heh

Even counts (22 and 22) and no regrets?!? Not what I expected.

I have read lots of posts where people would say "I wish I had ...." or "I should have ...". I've seen some other posts that say most people on this board have 6MT.

6spd without question. I even prefer it in traffic. Lets me take my feet off all the pedals when I'm at a dead stop and stretch. Other times its kinda like a hybrid, I pop it in neutral and just coast at 800rpms....gas saver.

Honestly though, I rarely even remember that I'm the one shifting. Its like riding a bike, I'm never really thinking about keeping my balance until I wanna ride hard or do some tricks.

6MT no regrets. In fact haven't regretted driving a manual transmission car since my first car, a 93 VW Jetta VR6.

I have driven both types of TL. There is only one choice for the sport driver..... 6MT all the way!! There is nothing like slam'n your way through the gears. You'r "in control" You don't have the HP losses from a torque converter. Any "driver" will tell you the same!

IT ROCKS!!!

I voted for the Auto Tranny (wish I had Manual).

My first and most important reason would be that I'm already on my third tranny.

My second reason would be that , it's probably more fun with the Manual.

Due to nerve damage in my left leg, I can no longer drive manuals for long periods of time. Especially in the DC Metro Area.

Ah, that was me a month ago. I had an 03 TL-S and was worried about the tranny. The orig. tranny held up good for me, but I missed the fun of the manual and hated worring about it dying. Even with the 100k warranty, I bailed on an otherwise great car.
