My problem was solved
I had been hearing a lot of crackling noises from the center console, actually from the aluminum trim. Thanks to dtchung's reply to my post, I took the car to the dealer. They installed some tape underneath, and voila, the sounds are gone! I would suggest this to anyone who has weird noises coming from the front console.
Question: The dealer technicians took my car out for like 20 miles, according to my odometer. They only logged in 5 miles on my order receipt but I didn't notice until later. Is it normal for them to go such distances?

I worked at a car dealer for a long time and we sometimes put several miles on cars trying to determine the cause of a problem, and no one ever accused us of racing a BMW, or considered a one of a kind problem to be normal.

Thanks, AcuraTLetc for the comments. I didn't really think it was a bad post, just not in line with the thread and also I didn't get it.

Not a Blowhole
Both of my posts were meant to be funny, and since several people got it, and considered it LOL, it had its intended effect. Who says every response has to be serious? Lord knows there is enough misnformation on any of these forums, that some humor now and then is called "comic relief". Lighten up.
The answer to the poster's question is, of course, that it depends on the problem - 30 miles is on the high side, but what is the point? - should he sue Acura? So my quip attempted to uphold the honor of the Acura tech by suggesting that he was dusting a BMW 3-series.
The response to the Infiniti tech was humorous for a purpose - the thread originator asked if 20 miles was normal , and the Infiniti guy posted an anecdote about 300 miles! No one needs to explain why he did that - he was just trying to say that some problems require more tech drive time than others. We all know that.
But why not question his post, as it was clearly not answering the question? (I am being facetious now, since humor has been missed, so might another purpose). The humor is that if 300 miles is normal to fix an Infiniti problem, one might take comfort in having not bought one.
All perfectly clear now?
