My new TL

Hello fellow Acuraziners, I'm brand new here! I just purchased a 2006 Desert Mist Metallic TL with parchment interior. My next door neighbor suggested I join the site a while back but I'm just getting around to it, so I figured I would first say hello. We took some pictures of the car but I'm not quite sure as to how I post them (sorry I'm not up on all this technology), if someone can help me out otherwise I'll ask my neighbor.

Took a little while to finally figure that out, but I think it's right now! How do I do that, can they be removed?

Your car bears an uncanny resemblance to the Acura TL.

Welcome to the site.

Beautiful car! Love it!

I'm thinking of getting a navy blue pearl but I might be swayed towards your car's color

Do you mind if I ask you the price you paid for the car? The more details you could give, the better for me as I am in the process of negotiation.

Thanks.

you don't have the NEW Tire pressure monitor system on your wheels. You sure you got a 2006 model? Great color combo though. Beautiful and unique setup. Looks a little more classy.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

You might want to double check your paperwork.

Acura discontinued the Desert Mist Metallic for the MY 2006.

It is indeed a 2005 model! I used a photo program to zoom in on the rims and it does NOT have TPMS, which is standard on 2006s.

If your dealer sold it to you as a 2006 someone owes someone a full refund - or an actual 2006 (of a more appealing color) for no additional charge.

On a positive note, he got more horsepower out of the deal.

Hmm... thought they discotinued it.

I was sure they didn't show DMM when I checked acura.com; but I stand corrected.

Here is a closer look at his front rim.

The car is clearly an 05 model. TPMS is standard, and the rims are slightly different for 2006. They have a cutout around the valve stems - this car does not.

Welcome to AcuraZine.

Love your car, my first TL was the same color/combination. It's very unique.

Enjoy it!

Desert Mist Metallic is available on all 2006 Acura TL models except the 6 speed with high performance tires, with or without navigation.

Available or not, a close look at his rims tell the story.

2006 Rim:

His rim, the cutout around the valve stem for the standard TPMS is not present:

It has to be an 05 model. I don't see how it could be anything else.

This is the 04-05 rim, which is what his car is wearing:

Thank you everyone for the compliments!

Hmmm, I just reviewed and every bit of paperwork states 2006 yet as you mentioned there is no recess around the valve stem. I will follow up with them asap, thanks for bringing that to my attention. What exactly does that feature do?

on the dashboard, keep forwarding through the different options. One of them should be a Tire Pressure Monitor System. if you select this, it shows you the tire pressure for each tire. If you dont have this feature, you have an 05 model.

Thanks.

I purchased the car for a total of $35,354 after taxes and addons. They gave me $25,250 for my trade (2004 G35C 6Speed w/ Navigation - 39,580 miles) of which I owed roughly $12,890. I put $3,000 cash down, and actually financed $19,994. Hope that helps!

I just checked, it's reading all 0's for "TPMS". I haven't received any sort of alert, am I supposed to? Now what?

Oh, it is a 2006 after all - I guess the dealership swapped the wheels with 04/05 wheels.

That's just shady... real shady.

Yeah and apparently the system is disabled since it says "0" for all tires, and there's no alert. Time to demand them take it back!

Tell them you're thinking about seeking legal compensation against fraud and demand to know if they plan on doing something to make things right...like upgrading your rims.

Acurazine to the rescue! Good catch sangwl, I'm still amazed you caught that from those tiny pictures. Goes to show, people miss NOTHING when you post pictures on teh interweb

Maybe someone at the dealership did a rim swap for their friend who has an 05 to get new tires or the Mich tires and disabled the system. I had a friend that worked at a dealer several years ago and would do that when he needed new tires. Someones gonna get fired! You should be able to unwind on the whole deal if there was fraud with your vehicle. Even though they are in a legal pickle, I bet they may try to act like they are doing you a favor by giving you new rims. Make sure they give you the Michelin tires!!! I wonder what else they might have swapped out?
