My New DVD Player!

The DVD screen is 9" and the audio is piped through the car's existing speakers or played through wireless headphones. When folded, there's no visibility problems out the back window. The player is bolted on the roof's cross beam and not just on the headliner. (It's very solid--no movement, squeaks or rattles even on the roughest pavement). The sunroof operates just fine. The price was $1700 incl. labor which took about 7 hours. It turned out great! The color matches the interior beautifully! (For those wondering why I didn't go with headrest screens---originally, I wanted it that way but the installers told me that 1) the headrests were too narrow to accomodate existing screens, 2) there were metal bars inside the rests that would create problems and 3) the headrests were inclined too far forward which would mean that the screens would have to protrude outward making the whole install very odd). Pricey, but gotta keep those kiddies entertained!

Looks good! I was wondering why you didn't go with the headrests, but that makes sense... I didn't even think of that..
I'm working on researching a mod right now which will turn then Navi screen into a DVD Player/PS2 inputs/Rear view cam....
The way the kit is that I'm looking at will allow the Nav to work in the background, voice commands and all still working, while the video feed to the screen shows whatever is active on the A/V kit sitting in the trunk.
When I make the purchase and do the install, pics will quickly follow

Just to reiterate.......the biggest obstacle to putting headrest screens in the TL is that the existing headrests are inclined too far forward which would make flush-mounting and the viewing angle impossible. If you are able to find aftermarket headrests that fits the TL and has a more straight angle, then maybe it's possible.
Guys - There is now a screen on the market that simply connects to the head rest bars and allows a 7" screen to be used on each seat. No cutting into the headrest at all. Don't remember the name of the product but a little searching will probably turn it up. http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10101

Nifty device but the problem remains: the TL headrests are inclined too far forward---the device doesn't look to compensate for this (and also, it doesn't look as neat and clean as a professional install)........also, as someone pointed out, headrest screens are too visible to outsiders and are more prone to theft than the inconspicous ceiling-type.

too pricey IMO but it does the trick plus it's a Pioneer. i want to add dvd to mine too but more than likely just have it play in the navi lcd. i hardly have people in the backseat anyways and if i do - too bad for them as they can't see the screen and when i drive my seat is reclined pretty far back lol

Could you please comment on the use of the rear view mirror with your screen flipped down?
