My First Car!

Just introducing myself, name's Andrew, and I just got my first car at age 19 after years of research and saving, its a 2004 Tl Deep Green Pearl with Camel interior (just amazing) I knew what I wanted and was willing to wait, and man was it worth it, im in love. So proud when I get complements, especially knowing that I paid for it on my own after years of hard work. And when people ask if its mommy or daddys I get to say They wish!

I bought it from Montgomeryville Acura with 66,000 as a certified used preowned, clean carfax, one owner, also has 7 year 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

So clean and smooth, the previous owner must have loved it and taken car of it as obsessively as I do as it looks brand new in and out.

Came with Proxes 4's too (great tires!) –Manach

P.S. When I figure out posting pics Ill do so. If someone wants to let me know the best way to do it, feel free.

you have a very nice taste for cars, but just curious, what kind of hard work can a 19-yr old do to afford a 20,000 car?

^ Why can't people just be happy that a 19yr old saved and bought himself a great used car. I'm not bashing you Kostyan but I'm really tired of the many people on this board who harass teenagers on how they got their new car. Honestly if he was out selling blow or turning tricks that's none of our business and it's just good to know he earned it himself. I have to give Andrew props because when I began driving at age 15 (Virginia law used to allow you to get a permit at that age) I was out ready to get the first car that I could afford and when I was 16 I bought my aunts '89 Grand AM. There is no way in hell I could have waited it out for 3 years saving to buy a car.

Thanks to everyone for the welcoming and congrats!

BlueAc - I did not have a place in mind that was going to be my next post. Thanks for the info ill check it out, how much was yours, are they competitively priced? (I haven’t gotten around to research yet)

Jeowen / paul revere – I love the color too its exactly what I wanted.

Camporealer / revitupwriteitoff – Thanks, there are a few who still know the pride in hard work and what it can give you. My friends know the rules, and if someone new gets in I have them yelling before I can cuz they know ill flip, lol.

Sunny201 – Thanks they sure are and Yep, Stroudsburg.

JD TL-S – It sure does, and their on the way.

Kostyan – Started doing odds and ends for family a very long time ago. Then started working maintenance/painting/repairing job during the summer in Livingston NJ where my aunt teaches preschool, then I started working with the kids there in the summer with her, and lastly my current job at Head Start in East Stroudsburg as an assistant in one of the preschool rooms. Most of all almost every penny went right into savings and didn’t come out till I got the car.

Glad to see you don't actually sell blow and turn tricks! Haha, had you said that it would have been funny to see the responses!

Cool to hear you work at Head Start. My daughter actually is in preschool now so we did our research on all the facilities in our area and that was one of them

Its possible... When I was 17 I had a 97 Honda Accord Wagon... at 19 I had a 99 Acura TL and now I'm 25 and have an 07 TL/Navi. And for the record I never got .01 from my parents towards any of them (besides co-signing). So once again congrats to the OP and keep up the good work.

Congrats Manach, and welcome to AZ. You are lucky to be able to afford such a nice car at the tender age of 19.

At 19, when I came to this country, I had to work as a dishwasher because I couldn't speak English. Now, after many years of hard work, I write decisions for judges.

I got my first car, an Oldsmobile, when I turned 29. Now Olds is extinct, and I have had many cars since, but never a US made car again. LOL!

I hear ya on the color thing...at first there weren't many colors I like on the TL. I mean they're all nice, but I think some just stand out so amazingly that the others don't impress me as much (if it were not for those few colors, I'd really like the others)...if any of that makes sense.

So anyways, went to the Acura dealership tonight to pick up a part. Saw a bunch of different colors and they really started to grow on me!

To the OP - congrats on the car. Nice car for your age & for your buying it on your own. In my high school many kids drove BMWs, Benzs, etc. I drove a Ford Probe as my first car. It felt better to know my parents didn't buy me a brand new BMW while other's are working for it, ya know?

YAH right, if your parents had $1,000,000,000 in the bank and bought you a Bently

you would be sad, right? NOT.... Great to earn and deserve a car, but if my parents had

$$$$$$$ fallin out of their @$$ I would gladly take the new 335i Coupe. I earned and

bought EVERY CAR I EVER OWNED.

I have always liked black shaded cars. I used to feel most other colors didnt falter the car, but I think lately some car manufactures have been experimenting with shades and mixes of some colors like greens, blues, reds ect that have been turning out very unique, and still very nice and faltering. I would have never thought I would like a "green" car, but with the mix they did it turned out to be my favorite.

I wouldnt be sad in the slightest, but thats becuase if my parents had that kind of money to throw around I probably woulnd know what it feels like to earn something I really wanted, so I wouldnt know the feeling I was missing out on.

Congrats to you Manach! When I was 19 I was taking the bus and driving my mother's '75 Olds. My '05 is DGP. Somebody should start a DGP club, but I doubt there's enough of us out there!
