Muscle baby! The cop that tried to stop us on the way to the track pulled over the gto and said... I heard you from 3 miles away, how much do you have to the wheels. lol Then let him go.

Track looks slick as snot. 135 got a Juice Box? I've got my eye on a used black one. It's automatic though.

Actually, I think the 135 is pretty ugly but it's got loads of character. Still haven't driven one though.

Yea, it was slick as snot out there because it was cold out, and all of our tires were bald! I ran a 12.7, the 135 ran a 12.6 and the gto went 12.3. We all can do better on a warmer day with good tires. 135 looks great and sooo powerful with just a jb it's almost unfair but I'm still getting a different v6 twin turbo beast (gtr)

what year? I think the GTR is the ONLY coupe that I would take over a 4 door as a DD... I have 2 kids so my cars are always 4 doors but if a great deal cam along I think I would just have to suffer it out.... lol

I have one lil one, and I'm keeping the evo and trying to add a gtr when the evo is paid off. The gtr is sooo small inside, the evo will do daily duty and as for the year I really want an 11 or 2012 in a year or so. I looked at an 09 last month for 58k but the color combo was not to my liking and I still have to pay off the evo. I also love 4 door cars, that's why I had an integra and TL before my evo. The gtr will be my first coupe

Yea, I made 337 awp and 360 TQ. But that with a pro tune, and my fastest was 12.8 1/4 mile but in the runs above, I had a Cobb ap stage 2 ots map running 12.7 1/4 mile so I'm not sure what the power is with the ap. Why do you ask?

Had a guy in an STI that made 269whp and unknown amount of tq say he ran 12.7, which makes no sense...so my car should be mid 13's, bleh I need to dip into the 12's.

Not a bad thread resurrection. That's a pretty good video. My son just unloaded his 05 Altima V6 for an 02 Sentra SE-R with a VQ35DE swap; I wonder how well he'll do against Evos and STIs.

He just picked it up today...stay tuned come this Spring.

OT, the current gen Evo is so much more likable than its predecessor. If it wasn't for its relatively astronomical price tag, I wouldn't mind having one to toy around in.

I think stock Spec B's are generally good for ~14 flat, so you should easily see mid 13's.

STI's and Evo's are ridiculously expensive. I looked at an STI Limited that was in the low $40's. Unless you're hardcore into rally racing or whatever, that's crazy money. I'd take the WRX for $14 k less and mod it.

Agreed. That's just too much money for a subcompact on steroids. At that price level, one could scale down the performance a bit and get something like an Infiniti G37X, Lexus IS350 or BMW 335i.....upscale performance sedans that are nice to experience even when you're in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Again, I'm unsure of my power numbers at this point but that was a slippery day and I'm sure I can best my 12.7 time in the coming season but sti's are lighter then Evo x's so may be that's why your bud ran. 12.7 with less power.

As far as price goes, you won't understand the price point until you spend some time in an Evo or Sti but it is definately an acquired taste. I have been into Asian cars my entire life while my fam (older brother) loved bimmers and a properly set up Evo or Sti just has a certain, "it" factor that IMO justifies the price just as a bimmers price is relative to its rep an Evo can be equipped with more gadgets like back up camera, 40 hd, heated leather seats sat nav etc and is a more visceral driving car stock. The g37 feels spongy the 3 series feels very close to the Evo but a bit more disconnected and rough I've never driven an Sti but the Evo is an amazing platform that you either love or hate and I'm biased lol but it has been worth every single penny I spent.

Mangle v8's at the track and get 27 mpg on the way home...
Priceless lol

This is why I opted for my Legacy, it's a great car, paid $14k for it with 85k miles, has leather red seats, a nice silver aluminum trim, navi with a lot of cool gadgets built in the navi, heated seats, all steering functions for the radio, 6 disk changer MP3 capable.

I plan to keep it for... well ever and just pay it off right now, then build it into a mean 550whpish... machine to DD.

My friend has a 2011 EVO x MR and I put about 3 car length from a 60-130mph roll, I love his evo the handling is amazing and I love his seats they are hands down the best ones I've sat in.

"ineedmyfixofacura" I got beat up by a 35r legacy at the track when i had a bad clutch, they are good cars. Youtube evo x vs legacy and that's my same white x, don't read the comments though because so many people talked crap about me because I didn't launch and didnt want to break my clutch so I just did a crappy pass. lol But yea an equally set up evo x would be orgasmic, my buddy has a 6262 turbo evo and it's unreal!

Yeah, well I did some looking around and as an evo x owner... This is THE MOST accurate review I could find pertaining to the, "IT" factor I was talking about when deciding to buy an evo over say a 335 or g37.

Great vids.. I'm shocked by the variance in runs and the size of the X.. I really like the new look but was a bit astonished to see that it looks smaller than the previous gen (VIII?).

GT-R might look small but I saw 4 grown men fit in one and take a cross country road trip. The boot held 2 large luggages, 2 duffels and a camera bag as well. It looks tiny but it's deceiving.. the new gen Camaro actually has less space.

Good video. The 335i likely has a larger IT factor due mainly to the propeller on the hood (or for enthusiasts, the N55 motor). But to each his own.

The n55 is the new variant, the n54 is the 335/135's previous motor and the n series motors are stout and great but it takes a twin turbo straight 6 (now single turbo) from bmw to pull off 300 hp while the Evo 10's 4b11 is a 4cly single turbo rated at 291.
I know both motors like the back of my hand so I'll delve... Stock for stock identical power, but the n is cheaper, easier in terms of modding (only up to 400 hp). If you want potential for more hp the 4b11 is far cheaper and easier to get to 500/600+ awp. While the n54/55 has not reached 500 rwp yet (hpf is fixing that this month) And the evo can actually put the power down with the much more advanced drivetrain. Here lies the evo's, "it" factor beacause it's nitch buyers understand this and pay the 40k for it. Do you honestly feel that a fully loaded Evo 10 is not worth 10k less then a 335?!?! I disagree, BMW even knows that the Japanese make great engines because they watch very closely and mirror them. The n54 is like the 2jz and the
N20 is bmws version of the 4b11. The e46 m3 powerplant was even cast iron like the 4g63, so please don't just fall victim to, "if it's German it's better" they study then produce a wide variety of what people want they (Germans/Japanese) are both innovative and brilliant automakers but at the end of the day I like to just cruise at high speeds with no worries or thought in the bimmers/3 series but like to feel engaged/ more involved with the driving experience and stand out from the crowd(everyone and their mom including mine has a 3 series)in my Evo.Those reviewers rated the 335is also and rated it the same as the Evo x by the way.

Sorry they actually rated the Evo 10 better then the 335is by half a point

The variation in times was because we were trying different ways to launch, there was literally no grip out there. But yeah the x is definately not smaller then the vIII. I de-winged mine to make it light but that also makes it look smaller, but interior wise and dimensions are larger.
As for the gtr, Ive been in the front and back and it's smaller then you would think being that it's such a large long looking coupe. It dwarfs a 3 series but the interior is smaller. Doesn't matter, I'm still buying one as soon as the funds align.

No way that was your Evo X?! ha, that's crazy cool, I've watched the 35R legacy vs evo video like 15 times, I love it, I can't believe he is still running the stock tranny on such a large turbo. Mine is on it's way out and I'm running 17psi on stock turbo lol. STI tranny coming soon?

speaking of GTR I completely forgot I had this video, my friend Daniel bought a new GTR from North Carolina, paid 90k i think or something. Anyways it's quite the amazing car, when tires are cold, 1st gear is all tire spin, second gear it hooks and punches you in the stomach, then you go to a complete stop from 70 in what seems like a blink of an eye.

nothing to special but it sounds lovely.

Again, the IT factor is subjective. Hence, the 'to each his own' reference. Additionally, many auto enthusiasts are not into or (in my case) have grown out of the mod to perform stage.

I hear you, and I suspected that you had grown out of the modding phase. Which is why you wouldn't really understand the value factor/price point of a tuner car. This is why the evos sales are low, its such a nitch market, I was just trying to give insight on why the Evo is valued so high even though it's not very refine like its rivals. Bottom line is it's potential for upgrades is higher then it's competition which your right the,"it" factor is subjective.

Bottom line is it's potential for upgrades is higher then it's competition which your right the,"it" factor is subjective.
'niche' ....and coming from said scene, I fully understand it.

As for the Spec V, that VQ35DE seriously overpowers the B15's chassis and suspension terribly. and

He likes the new 3 Series?

That front end, those mirrors, that interior....

I did see a video review of a 328 though, and I swear it had A Spec wheels!

I can understand why he did it, especially if he is planning for a future investment. Car payments really do suck!

As you said, I can imagine how dominating the VQ is on that chassis. It's gotta be even tougher to launch than the Alti! Probably quick as he11 though from a roll...I'll still run him at the track though
