Angry My 2 month old Type -s Hit by a dump truck

First of all, people here at work like joking about my car because of how protective I am of it. Well one of them comes to my door with the usual "Someone Hit Your car". Of course I think he is joking but he was not. Some IDIOT in a DUMP TRUCK hit my parked car.
Destroyed the rear passenger door. I got damage all the way back to the gas cap. He drug the car about 2 feet. The worse part of this is that the car is 2 yes people 2 Months old. I am soooooooooooooooo Pissssssssssssssssed.

Im scared to ask but do you have pics?

At least it was in the rear and not the engine... should be able to fix it without a problem...

take the time to research and find a VERY GOOD body shop to fix the damages.....

That truly sucks. Doesn't matter how the bodyshop going to repair it. It will carry an accident record for life. I just hate it when people are not careful with other people's cars.

I hope your co-worker got the info off of that truck so that the company's insurance carrier will be liable for that. I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you and we can all relate with what you're going through.

Surveillance cameras caught the whole incident, that and the usual group of smokers on their break. Thank god for smoke breaks. So the driver stayed and I was able to get all the insurance information from him. Spoke to his insurance carrier who said they will contact me in 24 hours. Got it on record at my insurance. The good news is that the car is drivable. All things considered it held up pretty well. I was so upset that I did not bother to take any pictures. My coworkers emailed me a ton of pictures to remind me. Looking at the pictures, the damage is not as bad as I first thought. The door will definitely need to be replaced. It’s really upsetting because like TypeSDragon said the car will have the accident record for life and I have babied the thing because its still in its break in phase. 2212 miles on the clock.

Sorry to hear about that, that really does suck. Thats going to be fun with the paint match. WDP is a pain to get the paint to blend or match. Good luck and hope every thing works out.

I'm totally hurt just by seeing those pictures. I can't even tell how I'm going to feel if that happens to my car. I hope you get a good fix so that way you don't have to remember it ever happened. I had my previous TL fixed twice at Marcos auto body shop and it's perfect. They were great and provided great service. So if you have Marcos in your area, check them out.

Only if the repair is done at a dealership body shop, if you take it to a good body shop that is an independent, the repair will not be on any report, we (my shop)are not required and thus do not report damages to any authorities of any kind (this is in Florida, may be different in another state) Thought it might help you feel better. Also when you are a "claim it" as you are in this situation one BIG thing insurances try to do is stall tactics, they will tell you many, many, many exuses as to why your work has not been started or why your calls haven't been returned. (ie: faxes not recived ect. ect.) Just a heads up info... all though if it is a bigger insurance company that have DRP's (direct repair shops) and you take it to them it will get done faster BUT is it going to be done to YOUR quality? I dought it, think about why insurance companies have DRP's they have a contract with some body shop that will give them discounts and cut corners where ever they can (for example putting aftermarket parts on your brand new car, instead of OEM) Sorry I am rambling on just thought I would give you a heads up on what to look for and what to expect.

Also (you might already know this) but by your pics I would take a close look at that tire and rim and I would make sure you get a 4 wheel alighnment! In order to assure there is no hidden susspension damages. Anytime you get damage that could involve a wheel you should always get a 4 wheel alignment. You might not feel it right now then 6 months down the road... poof... no tread... now try to get insurance back involved... that sucks!

Thanks for the advice, I have never heard of their insurance company, maybe there are different providers for those types of vehicles. Donegul Insurance...
Not sure what the law about reporting damages in this area are but when the time comes to sell/trade, if they ask I wont lie. I dont plan to take the car to any DRP's, I already have an idea of two very good shops in the area, used by members who have nothing but good reviews.

One thing to consider is going through your insurance (which is not fair) BUT if you have A LOT problems with thier insurance you can always go through yours (you have to pay a deductable and your rates may go up) but I have seen many times in these cases with unknown insurance companies its not good... I have seen a few cases it went smooth... also you have the right to be put in a rental for the duration of the repair so demand that but rental is always someone elses fault and what I mean is the insurance will say how long the repair will take and if the body shop takes longer then poof you have to pay the difference because usually the body shop has you sign an authorization to repair that includes the fact that they are NOT respocible for car rental.... so what I am saying is be aware of what you are signing and such, I am just giving you heads up I am not trying to scare you LOL

While that is generally true, the thing to insist on is that they repaint the entire half of the car that was damaged, the more surface area they paint, the easier it is to blend it. I had a WDP (or whatever they called it, white pearl or something) car and part of it repainted due to an accident. It came out lousy, so they repainted the entire half of the car, not including the hood, but including the entire rear bumper. The second time it came out pretty good, even I couldn't tell and I normally notice every nick.

That is pretty true the term a lot of insurance companies use is "blend with in the panel" that is a horrible way to color match there is simply not enough room, the body shops would prefer "full refinish on the panel" then you blen into the adjacet panels. If you have a good painter who takes pride in his work you will never notice even on a WDP or any 3 stage pearl. We have an 08 TL right off the truck with frount bummper damage. You should see how bad the color match is right off the truck on the bummpers (frount/rear) Now that we have repainted the frount it looks perfect and the rear is now off LOL maybe they will let us repaint the rear bummper now so it looks good all the way around :-)

since it'll be on the car's 'record', don't forget to ask for loss of equity compensation...if their insurance co. can't come up with a number, yours probably can.

Sucks. Must be killing you.

But, it's not as bad as it seems. Looks like it'll be good as new, I'd guess.

And DON'T FORGET, regardless of what their insurance company says, YOU get to have it repaired at the body shop of YOUR CHOICE.

that sux...you should be able to claim a diminished value compensation as well...don't know much about what documentation you gotta have. i guess the best thing would be go to a dealer and have them give you two appraisals...one w/ the damage and one saying 'if there was no damage' that should get you a few bucks...money always makes me feel better.
