My 08 NBP TYPE-S vs. Integra TYPE-R
Well, I was just cruisin with the wife tonight, just lookin at all the Christmas decorations in some really cool neighborhoods and we get out to a two lane road, and I see these two beedy eyes pop in my review. I immediately knew it was an Integra and waited to see what he was gonna do. I was doin the speed limit (45) when he shifts gears and zooms by me. So..... I was so excited. This hasnt really happend to me in my TL-S yet, so I was in SS- I downshifted and was at 70 before I knew it and blew back by him. Then the light we are coming up on turns yellow, and we were lined up perfectly! I knew we were gonna hit it-so I turned VSA off and kept it in SS mode---GREEN- I hit it and so did he (he had aftermarket exhaust and what sounded like intake, and possible headers as well) he got the jump and to 40mph he was barley 1/2 car ahead, I started catching then we get cought at another light. This time I put it into auto mode.....GREEN -I got a really good jump and started pulling- he let up before even shifting to second- wish we could have went more- i gave him a then we split- I have always admired the TYPE-R's their SICK- and really, I wasnt [I]that[I] surprised that he got me, I mean really....he is quicker right?

Hmmmm.
I think you need CAI, UR Pulley, J-Pipe, Test Pipe and ALTP Exhaust.

Sounds like you need a RL
hahahahha no seriously though just take the Type S symbol and place it in the center of your deck lid and it adds like 25hp...I know b/c as you've seen I had that on my 03 type s

Just for reference, on a straight road for max oomph, in A/T, leave the car in auto, it will outperform your SS shifts.
(on track/curvy roads SS is your friend)

The Integra Type R is pretty quick. Modded it should stick with the auto Type S..depending on how modded, a 6MT too.

From a dig he is quicker with the mods he has. Power to weight ratio goes to him. from a roll in ss mode you'd murder him

While I like the Integras, I can't believe all the hype over the "type R" stuff. It's a 14 second car on a good day. Not exactly the stuff legends are made of.

Trust me. There are many legandy ITR's in Japan. There are many Legends in japan too.
Remember its no GN. Lets be fair to the B18's. I mean i highly doubt your GN is stock. I know you have to have some engine mod work done. An ITR with engine mod work done is pretty satisfactory.

They are usually high 14 to low 15 sec cars. I was told these cars can see a 13flat with only 200fwhp. Dont know if this is true, sucks that I couldnt find a type r or a gs for that matter.

my buddy has a GSR with intake, exhaust, cams and it feels a lot slower than my 6MT! but its fun to drive. hes got the japan headlights and dropped like a mofo..nice cars

Seems to me the DC2 Integra R is a 14.2 car. The race is at 1:45 in that video.

I know they're fun cars and all. They're not too slow and they don't corner too badly but I've just never seen why people blow their load over them.

LOL. It's just as much about power to weight for domestics. At 3,100lbs, I think I have just about any ITR on the planet covered. Any streetable ITR for sure.

ITR's are fast, light and cheap. you cant go wrong for what you're working with under the hood.
I think a well boosted ITR or DC5 has a chance to knock off your GN. (i think)

There's no ITR that's going to match me in both streetability and speed. Maybe a stripped shell of a car with $20,000 in the motor but mine still drives like a stocker with AC and a full interior. Not to mention I have a grand total of $3,000 in the engine. Keep in mind it was my daily driver when it was running 10.60s and commuted for a few months 210 miles a day. Not many cars are capable of that with the exception of Supras and such.
Take a trip to your local track and you'll see the vast majority of Honda products running in the 14 to 16 second range making obscene amounts of noise in the process while the GNs typically don't run slower than 11s and the only thing you hear is a faint whistle. It's the rare 13 second and faster Honda that everyone talks about and acts as if it's normal.
The TL is about one of the fastest Hondas ever and there's just a couple on here that have cracked 13s.

Hey I hate car did you even watch the video I posted? lol. The ones who get 15's are the ricers haha....people who drive GN's know about cars and drag racing (like yourself), that's one of the reasons why most, if not all of them post great times. Drivers of ITRs vary quite a bit. Some of them are ricers, some of them have more money than skills, only some of them are car enthusiasts. And out of those enthusiasts, most of them bought the car not because of its speed, but its balance of decent acceleration, handling, and fun-to-drive factor. In other words, out of those enthusiasts that drive ITR's, most of them would go track racing (with corners) before they go to a drag strip, hence you will rarely find a ITR that does well in the 1/4 mile.
With that said, here's a 11's ITR which is also a daily driver,
http://www.turbomagazine.com/feature...e_r/index.html
but who knows how much $$ went into it.....
If you want a fast Honda but don't want to spend too much, you can always buy a used civic and do an engine swap + turbo. With this setup, power isn't an issue, traction is. And no TL will keep up with that.

I did not watch the video but I will after I finish this.
My only point is that typically American cars and GNs in particular will go much faster with much less money invested while being extremely streetable.. The ITR would be a blast to drive around a course and the ones that end up in enthusiast hands and not ricer's hands are usually set up for corners, not drag racing.
There may be a reason for this though. Look at the old Monte Carlo SS. They come with a 305, run high 15s, same car and suspension as the GN. The vast majority of owners set them up for auto-x and not drag racing. I think it's because without some serious money in the engine, it's never going to be competitive at the strip so they turn to a different performance arena which is easier and cheaper to attain good results.
Merry Christmas to everyone.

Ya, after reading about your GN, there aren't that many cars out there that can beat it in terms of power gain to money ratio...lol...
There are some videos on youtube of stock ITR keeping up even with FD RX7 on Tsukuba and WRX, pretty impressive

Yeah, got to drive a 08 and 09 TL and was surprised that you couldn't do that. Too bad, it's an advantage when trying to get the most out your car.
For grins I took the 08 to a stretch of road to see how it compared to mine on a 45-70mph punch. The 08 did it in 4.5 and 4.3 secs for a 2 run average of 4.4secs. My 02 TLS did the same run in 3.7 and 3.5 secs, almost 1 second quicker . . . I guess Acura really is turning the TL in to a middle age cruiser.

And timing the car based on two very unreliable data sources, a watch and a speedometer, doesn't mean much. That leaves a huge margin of error.

They're just not in the same league. The ITR is light, cheap, and fun, but I don't consider low 15s even remotely fast. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Put into consideration what both cars have stock. They're in two different classes, not to mention thats its just a 4 cylinder car of course you have the advantage. it takes less than 20 grand in an Integra to run down a muscle car.
Who in the world takes internet info about cars seriously. no one does, i dont and i've been to the tracks here in miami and i seriously beg to differ. I've seen a boosted eg walk on a corvette and the driver did not look like he can even afford 10 grand much less 20.
They're boosted integra, rsx's, scion's and Srt-4's all over miami. our ages range from 17-25 we cant afford second cars LOL at least not yet so they are daily driven. Im 22 and I lucked up with 2 cars my 03TL-S and the 89 supra.
Mid 15's is pretty slow but they're 4 cylinders and FYI S2000's, EVO's and STI's dont run 15's and with 3 grand like you all three of these cars can run with a GN. Turbo kits are not 20 grand trust me a boosted ITR or RSX-S can walk you down. Boost Control remember
