Make sure you state you were completely stopped when you were hit to the insurance companies. When talking to insurance adjusters, they said it can make a big difference for liability if you were stopped or still moving when you were rear ended.

Any pics of the damage? When my '06 TL was hit, the bumper had to be replaced and the mufflers straightened. The trunk and quarter panels were not touched and the frame was not damaged. The other insurance company had to pay $1600 in damages + rental cost.

It's the perfect excuse to get a Ronjon body kit.

Hey... Not bad at all really. I mean no structural damage. Pay close attention to potential trunk leaks. My old CL got rear ended and while it looked perfect... the trunk leaked and screwed everything up inside.

It does not look too bad. I think you were able to get away from any frame damage from the way it looks.
Here are a couple things to look at before taking the car from the body shop after it is fixed:
1) Make sure the paint matches. Look at the car in bright direct sunlight and look at the matching between the newly painted and factory painted parts. Walk around and look at it from different angles. Since you paint is metallic, you have to be concerned about paint flop. Paint flop is the angle the metal flakes dry in your paint. If the 'flop' is at a seriously different angle than the factory paint, it will look like a different color shade at certain angles and match great in others. So this needs to be checked.
2) Make sure the trunk lid and bumper are re-fitted properly. Check all the points where the trunk and bumper meet the other panels for excessive or uneven gaps and placement. Especially check the gap where the bumper meets the bottom of the tail lights, the bumper meets the bottom of the trunk lid (when closed) and the trunk lip (where someone would put a spoiler lip) meets the quarter panels. Those areas seem to be where body shops have some trouble sometimes.

Definitely not too bad.. Would have been even better if he hadn't got the trunk etc..
From the looks of it I doubt they will remove the trunk to paint unless it requires more than the pictures suggest. Either way is fine, just one less thing that has a chance of going on wrong. I would also suggest/request that they keep the trunk lid repair to just the rear of the car etc.. If you have a trunk lip spoiler or plan to get one, I would have them paint/blend only to the spoiler area (if even that far). Given the damage, they should be able to contain the repair to just the bottom/side of the license plate area. This way the "blend" is minimal, paint should match the new bumper regardless, and the top of the trunk/fenders will remain the factory /match etc.. In all reality I myself (old paint/body guy), wouldn't want the blend to go beyond the top of the taillights - Keep the blend down were it doesn't have to be side by side any factory paint etc..
Sorry for your mishap - hope it all works out for ya
