Music to my ears

Have you ever show off your DVD-A to the passengers in your backseat?

I had in many occasions. I would play the Linkin Park DVD-A to show off the sound system. I would tell my backseat passengers how great it sounds with the DTS. They would always look at me like i'm crazy or something. Last week I was cleaning my backseat and decided to play the DVD-A. I never knew how different it sounded back there. The DVD-A sound system is definitely designed for the driver. It doesn't matter to me.

To me, DVD-A in a car is beginning to seem like just a novelty. The biggest problem is lack of software and also, the sound quality goes drastically downhill once the windows or the sunroof is open........the bottom line to me is that the environment in a car is just not the right place for "ciritical" listening like DVD-A was meant for. In my opinion, Acura should have placed the emphasis on more power and clarity in their sound systems like Mark Levinson and Harmon Kardon.

MP3 would have been much more useful.

I agree, the lack of DVD-A selection alone makes me wish they would have focused on an MP3 player instead of the DVD-A.

Dolby Digital 6.1 needed!!!!!

yea your right about the back not sounding good at all. Maybe we should write to acura and tell them to throw in a 6th speaker, rear center channel speaker and make it 6.1 instead of 5.1. Im going to drop in a Digitial media storage around 120 Gb's to get those mp3's runnin good.

MP3 sound quality is seriously lacking...........Acura had to draw the line somewhere for "lo-fi" and they just figured .mp3 was just not a format with enough detail and clarity.

Just burn your favorite .mp3's to audio format.

The stereo is pretty much fine as is. The only thing I would have requested would be a aux in port from the front. Otherwise, iPod + iTrip=acceptable for now--I care more about having my whole music collection with me.

The iTrip works with the FM antenna in the glass of the back window? I was concerned that it would not be able to get a good signal.

What I have found is that the amount of power in the iPod is the determining factor, not the location of the antenna. I keep my iPod plugged into the cigarette lighter in the center console often, and get a pretty decent sound (though obviously not as good as with an aux-in).

Nice. I'm going to give it a try.

Thanks for the info.
