Mudflaps?
Mudflaps?
What do you guys think about mudflaps? I did not get them (had to negotiate out of $995 protection package). I have a black TL. I kind of like the look without, but am interested in other opinions.

I'm more worried that the problem we had on the 99-03 TL perisists--the mudflaps, if left on for more than a few months, scratched through the paint and could be a potential rust problem. I have therefore chosen to go without them.

Should be no issue with rust as where it attaches is plastic (rear bumper and lower frame rail).
I had the scratches on my '02, so by the time I wanted to take them off, it was too late. I'll let y'all get the mudflaps for now...let me know if they scratch the paint in a few months. If they don't, I'll bite and buy some because they do have some utility.
I was wondering about the mudflaps too. On my current 00 TL I didn't get the rear mudflaps, they come standard with the front ones in Canada, and found that the rear fender was always dirtier than the front door behind the wheel. I didn't order them but I'm still thinking about it. I'd like to see how it looks on first.

I have had the mud flaps on my last three cars. Would not ever consider not getting them. My current car is almost ten years old and looks brand new for the most part. The flaps really do have a function and are a necessity in my book. Just my two cents worth though!
mudflaps are onl nice when the same color of the car. How much would it cost to paint them? Will paint stay on that kind of plastic?
In terms of scratches, you could stick some dynomat on the part that touches the car before u screw them on. SHould be a nice fix

A TSXer did it named Bear Trap on acura-tsx.com on his blue TSX. I looked quick, but don't have much time this morning. You could prob find it pretty easitly, otherwise I will look tonight and post for u
I've had mud flaps on every car I've ever owned, including my '04 TL. They're functional and finish the car off nicely. I think the standard black color goes quite well with my deep green pearl color.
I have them on my 04 TL and I think they look nice. Some people have mentioned that if you have mud flaps then decide to get the body kit you will see the scratches. That was true with the old design but the new design body kit will cover the area where the mud flap was thus covering up the scratches.
Just had them installed on my new white diamond pearl and IMHO think they really make the car. The black against the white really adds to the look and also protects the lower body panels from getting scratched and dirty from road debris.
I'd get them if I were you, especially on a black car, as they will hardly be noticed. Just think of all that road film and dirt spray that won't wind up on the side of your car. I'd put them on myself as most Honda/Acura mudflaps are very easy to install. I already had them on my car when I purchased it and even on the Abyss Blue they don't look bad. If you have a white or silver car, they proababy stand out more.

And in case anyone wonders, they are not really "flaps"! I think they look great especially on darker cars.
