Moments that make you smile
So, I am new to this whole TL world. Just got my '05 on May 19'th. My previous ride was a Hyundai Elantra 4 banger.
So I just finished filling up the car. Dropped 52 bucks on 91 octane at 3.99 a gallon. But I got 25.7 mpg, so not feeling bad at all.
So I am going to get on I-15 in Salt Lake City. The on-ramp is 3 lanes across and merges into two before merging you onto the freeway. And of course, I am in the lane that is ending.
Wouldn't you know it, there's two other cars besides me coming on the onramp from the other side of the road. So we are three across and I gotta decide if I am going to drop back before the merge or try to get ahead of the guy next to me. That guy is driving a little aggressive so I am thinking 'drop back'.
But wait, I didn't get the Lexus ES330. I picked this car for the extra power and fun factory. So, let me actually use this accelerator and see what this baby can do. So I begin to ease down on the power. I don't take it to the floor. Didn't need to. The car waited for half a second to make sure I 'meant it' and then obliged me. It took off like a bat out of hell. Not rough, or lurching. Just a smooth acceleration, like when you're on an airliner that gets cleared for take-off.
Two seconds pass and I glance in the mirror. My two merge buddies are nowhere near me and I am merging onto I-15 at 80. I didn't figure speeding tickets into my budget when I bought the car, but maybe I should have.
I LOVE this car! I smiled the rest of the way home.

Hey you can do that any time you know...you don't have to wait until you are merging and the lane you are in is ending, the accelerator will work in most cases if the car is on and is set to the "drive" position.

but idk about you, but a plane that gets cleared for takeoff isn't exactly smooth to me .. but i guess i can see what you were trying to say haha!

On ramps are also the highlight of my day after a long day at work. Also, the ability to mob from 60 to 90mph in a few seconds is also nice when trying to lose somebody who is being a dik and harrassing you from behind. It just keeps pulling...

although my gas mileage is lackluster (22mpg) i really think its worth it imo. yes its expensive, but the car is truly a blessing within itself and im pretty thankful i have it. it sure is fun/reliable/faster than everyone elses i know so its a fair trade off.

Other then driving around the city here I barely get to hit the interstate but when I do it feels so sweet to be doing 80 to 100 lOl... I love how the car pulls on when your trying to over take a slow poke in the fast lane. Sometimes I feel like an Acura Real time racer...

yesterday I was on the highway and it was deserted, just felt like going for a dead stop and then practicing my launch hehehe right in the middle lane, it was sooooo dead I couldn't beleive it... wanted to see how quick to 100... and um only one way to describe it... :school girl giggle:
