Modded E46 M3 vs. My 6mt TL (video inside)

Current mod lists for each car are in the video:

My next mods before a rematch will be:

- Passenger mod (lol)
- Driver mod (hit rev limiter at the top of 3rd on the first run )
- PnP Manifold and Runners
- Lightweight crank pulley

Comments on my next mods? Besides the J&R ECU I cant think of anything that would give more hp, and exhaust is not really an option for me.

I am still planning on doing the ECU at some point in the future after I have nothing left to do short of F/I.

Nice runs! That's how every race should be recorded

The passenger hurt you lol not sure how much better the results would be with the extra weight. But I'm sure with the ECU and less weigh you'll be even...maybe even edge him out.

Very nice runs and way to get them on video.

Results are interesting considering you had a passenger. He was pulling pretty hard not gonna lie, but without the passenger that pull would've slowed significantly. Considering you don't have an exhaust, I'd say you did pretty well.

The mods you mentioned will help, but I would say after a tune you should be really close. E46 M3s are very quick and have great top end; they're good for 104+mph traps stock. Mod, race, then report back

^ J&R ECU + other breather mods would be amazing, I would suspect he would pull the M3 pretty hard from a roll.

ProbyOne, I LOVE your videos. Unfortunately for me all I want to do after seeing them is sink more money into my car.

He has another against my 335i, which is actually the best because it was done during the daytime. He will post it if we can figure out how to edit our faces out.

I don't know about pulling it hard from a roll, although fully bolted with the ECU, it might be close. The M3 makes 275-280 whp stock. With the 100lbs reduction in the TL, they're pretty close in weight. The best SAE dynojet I've seen on a base 6MT TL is 253 whp, with full bolt ons and P&P, so the ECU could add 20 to that. It would be interesting.

Awesome, clear video!

M3 is 200lbs heavier, thats a huge difference. The TL is putting down at least 260whp. With ECU and PnP intake manifold, it would beat the m3 by a good bit.

e46 M3 is 200 lbs heavier?

BMW has always claimed 3380-3415 lbs for a 6MT e46 M3, vs 3482 lbs for a 6MT TL.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

And how is a TL that makes 220 stock, putting down "at least" 260 with just PCD's and a J pipe? Show me a dyno, or you're just wildly overestimating.

Weight reduction. 100lbs lighter, my mistake. The TL still has the weight advantage. The TL is putting down at least 260whp, as I said before. Call it a factory freak if you're having trouble with it. It walked my 295whp 335i until 105 ish.

Also the 4.10 gears are a pretty big gain for the M3 from a roll race, especially for its 3rd gear and up.

Well after watching Proby's last vids I went and raced my buddy in his 08 Legacy GT Turbo. He is stage II with a Grimspeed up-pipe, Cobb downpipe, bigger intercooler and Auto Transmission as is my car. I was very happy with the results. Sorry not trying to thread jack, just got excited after watching your vids. Hurry up and post the next one LOL!

Awesome! Did you get a video? There will be many more videos of the TL to come. Especially once he gets a few more modifications

Was the TL ever dyno'd? 260whp is a lot considering the mods, but on a happy dyno I could see it. Any baseline numbers? If not, then 260 is meaningless; unless of course it was on the same dyno the you pulled 295 with your 335i.

Mo@r vids!

Nice Videos.....good death....it does show that the TL 6mt can def hang if it were fully bolted with JnR ECU (if not beat it)

good job with providing some good footage with it!!

No video this time. But I'm curious how long Proby is going to stay NA Lol! Either way, Thanks to you guys and also BostonSilverTypeS for keeping this Forum exciting with the Vids As long as everyone keeps it safe as possible, I think this forum will be pretty good with Mint videos like the ones you all posted!

The TL can get down to 347x lbs without the NAV option 6MT.

Can you post the 295whp graph & on what dyno with what mods for the 335? Seems high for stock & low for modified.

Nice recording. That's about right. Mazdaspeed 3 keeps up with the E46 M3. Those M3's are no joke. They are too fast for TL.

anx1300, when are you going to switch to Mazdaspeed3? Trust me it's faster from roll. I said this over and over and over...

awesome runs, I've really been itching to ran an E46 M3...I think they would put up a great fight on the highway for me.

I did run an E36 once, but as soon as I saw his hood latch was broken I hit my brakes hard to get out of it...no need for him to possibly crash.

I heard that Infiniti G35's are pretty ghey, the first gen that is. The black one looks the ugliest. Whenever I got in the 1st gen G35, it smelled really bad.

Nova G is lurking here. ha ha oh that's great.
