Mirror Problem....

my left mirror cracked some time ago, I purchased one from sunnysideacura and replaced it, I adjusted the mirror for a perfect view and saved it to the memory, now whenever I unlock the car or just press the memory button the mirror goes all the way down(this is not because of putting it in reverse), I tried many times to program into the memory, but still goes back down. Oh and I did the whole memory problem recall thing last year. It worked perfect until i replaced the mirror(glass part).

Any ideas?

Motor position sensor. Not sure if the TL has them or just has it on a timed circuit. How did it crack? It may have been damaged then, or during the repair.

There are alignment tabs on the mirror holder which must be lined up on each side of the actuator tabs.

Have you checked to be sure that you installed the new mirror holder correctly?

I don't know if this could cause the problem, but it is a possibilty.

I have no idea how it cracked, I walked outside one day and found it liek that, The mirror's position when it was cracked was fine. when I installed it
(by just pulling the cracked one off and pushing the new one in and plugging the two wires into the mirror) messed up.

I guess I'll try reinstalling it.

Is it possible the two wires got swapped?

Having the same problem on my OEM mirror. My guess is someone bumped it or something. When i open the car it goes all the way to the right and keeps trying to go that way until i adjust it. I'd have to say that it does sound like an alignment problem. Any more info on the actuator tabs. I'd appreciate it since my nearest dealer is 150mi away. Thanks...

I went to the dealer, showed him my problem and he was puzzled. He said it might be cause by I think he said memory Sensor. He said he'll have to buy the whole mirror for that sensor, and hes not sure if thats the cause.

I looked for the sensor at this site and could not find it.

He wants me to pay 350

What do you guys think I should do?

When removing the mirror, you will need a flashlight. Note that you are prying the mirror from the actuator tabs. The mirrors mounting has about an 1/8" plastic circle sourounding it. You are not tring to remove the plastic circle. Took me 10 minutes only because I was scared of screwing something up like the actuaitor. I would be pissed to pay $55.00 + to do this at a dealership. Thanks for the post.

Wow, talk about ressurecting an old thread. This is over 2 and a half years old since the last post, haha. But, at least it helped you out!

The resurrection is appropriate because this thread is often referenced when people ask questions about outside mirrors, which is how he got here in the first place.

He is offering an additional piece of information, based on experience, that will probably help people when they come to this thread.

We broke our mirror tonight, so I am resurrecting it again. Excellant write up. Thank you for letting us know this is an easy fix. A quick trip to get the mirror and a few minutes of work.

Thanks!!!!
