Can we change out the rear view mirror with the one from the 07 MDXs? It has a compass. I wonder if it would just swap with my 06 TL???? Without any mod's?

 

it would require some mods because we have built in connectors and the MDX has to have power tapped. It should be straight forward, but it really serves no point as the navi screen has a compass on it.

 

It might not be plug and play, but I'm sure it can be done if you know what you're doing

 

What about for the ones who are unfortunate to have a Navi? I wouldn't mind a compass either! Good idea! Hopefully this works because I would definitely be interested in this "mod(?)".

anything is possible to do, all you need to do is find the wirting schematics, then find out if the compass sensor is built into the mirror, or if the sensor is somewhere else


just from a fast look, the MDX mirror has a 7 pin connector at the mirror, and a 4 pin connector to the car harness. 2 wires are power and ground. the other 2 are for something.

 

since i can't edit my post anymore, here is how the stock mirror is

3 pin connector, which does power, ground, and backup lights

the MDX will have those 3 plus 1 more

 

in the 07 tl, the compass is in the middle of the heater display. i wonder if you can just swap that whole assembly?

 

OK, now I am confused! backup lights? I just don't understand? Care to shed some light on this?

just need to find out what that 4th wire is, and see if the mount is the same for the mdx and TL otherwise you need to buy that too

It would be a really cool mod, but putting in that effort and money, I don't think it would be worth it at all. Just my
